We are planning a meet-up for some mumsnetters at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in a couple of week's time. It's just off the M1, juncion 38 (more details to follow tomorrow).

Is anyone else interested in joining us? Hopefully the weather will hold out and some of us northern mums can join the list of meet-ups (seems most of them are down south so far).

I can't believe it. I live literally 2 miles from there (drive past it to get to work) but I will be on holiday that week. Sorry.

WedgiesMum · 06/05/2003 22:28

Aaargh Bozza! You will have to come next time???

WedgiesMum · 07/05/2003 13:33

The Sculpture Park is at Junction 38 off the M1 and is very well signposted. There is a car park as you go in (and it costs £1.50) and I guess we should all meet there. I'm sure that we'll be able to recognise each other, but just to make sure I have a white escort estate.

I am also putting a link into the website for more information and full details of how to get there here

WedgiesMum · 07/05/2003 13:34

Done the link and it's not working the address is :-

www.ysp.co.uk

Hope you can make it!!

Bozza · 07/05/2003 13:36

Yes keep me posted for next time.

Claireandrich · 07/05/2003 15:00

Cheers for the link. I have a blue Audi cabriolet to look out for. Will have roof UP though - too windy on the motorway!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction claire, can't make it on the 23rd but would be interested in any future meet up.

Claireandrich · 08/05/2003 09:01

Oh, what a shame about Bozza and nettie. Will have a get something else sorted out again later on in summer too.

Can I just add a word of warning on finding your way. There are two car parks; the one you want to use is the second one and is easily found because it is on a roundabout and well sign-posted. So you leave the M1 at J38, take the A637 Huddersfield (also signed to Sculpture Park) and then at the first roundabout (1 mile ish) turn left. This is the car park by the visitor centre/cafe etc.

Just would hate to think of one of you in the old car park thinking you'd been stood up.

Claireandrich · 08/05/2003 21:30

Thanks Bozza! We did just that at a local farm/park with a friend of ours this weekend - oops.

Shame about Nettie and Bozza, but definitely need to orgamise for later in the summer. And top 'on site' info - cheers!

Me too! Boo hoo......

Claireandrich · 21/05/2003 21:57

Still on for Friday???

OP posts:
WedgiesMum · 22/05/2003 08:57

Certainly am - thought it looks like it may only be the two of us??

Never mind I'm sure we can make enough noise for more, and if I can persuade one of mine to talk in a scouse accent then we could pretend M2T is with us??

Claireandrich · 22/05/2003 09:12

We will just have to talk about the others!!!

So, the carpark just off the roundabout it is then. Just a reminder - I have a Blue (03 reg) Audi. I'll have 13 month old DD in the back.

Looking forward to it - you'll recognise my anyway as my children will probably be dressed in a bizarre collection of clothes (started choosing all their own stuff...and mine too somedays!).

See you tomorrow!

Claireandrich · 22/05/2003 18:26

Fingers crossed the weather stays dry. I haven't been to the Scultpture Park. Is there somewhere dry to go if it does rain?

WedgiesMum · 22/05/2003 21:47

There is a visitor centre place with a shop and cafe and I think an exhibition. Had a look at the weather on teletext and it looks like it should be OK. Perhaps we should bring waterproofs just in case (got to admit here that my two are well used to being hauled outside in all weathers)?

WedgiesMum · 23/05/2003 20:21

CnR - It was great to meet up this pm. DS talked about your DD ALL the way home - he was very taken with her! And watched your car all the way until you turned off, then they both waved and shouted 'bye. I'm surprised you didn't hear as the bloke in the next car did!

Just so that you all know what you missed the Park was lovely, lots of room to run around and lots of things to touch, and the cafe didn't mind DD making a crumb mountain of chocolate cake and then rubbing it into the floor!

We must arrange another meet that the others can come too sometime in the summer. Until then I'll look out for your postings - thanks for a lovely afternoon. Enjoy BB tonight and your glass of wine, and good luck with WW, I'll expect to see less of you next time!

WMxx

We had a great time too. You kiddies were lovely and Mollie really enjoyed herself. She was shattered though and fell asleep before we got out of the car park. We found a feather in the garden when we got home so she has been tickling daddy with it - must be copying your DS; she's not done it before but we have loads of feathers all the time here.

Just to re-iterate to anyone else round about here. YSP is definitely worth a visit and it is great for little ones - can run around to their hearts content.

Must sort out other meet-ups round here again, especially as the nice summer weather is coming!!!
