Kayleigh · 20/04/2005 10:28

Thursday was popular last time so let's go for that again.

The next city lunch will be at Pizza Pomodoro - very close to Liverpool St Station, 5 minutes walk from Moorgate.
Date - Thursday 12th May at 12:30.

Anybody welcome, just post here to confirm.

ah yes, every morning as i slip into my size 6 chanel suit and my 4 inch high jimmy choos I think, gosh my life is just so SATC

OK it must be the hormones::::
1} am eating like a horse, so the idea of eating nothing is appealing
2} not sure I'd know what to do with a semi-naked waiter at the moment anyway and might scare them off with my bumpity-bump

Just trying to think glamourous which is hard when you wear the same fat pregnancy trousers day after day

Kayleigh · 21/04/2005 12:22

ah yes beachyhead, but once the baby pops out you'll be back in your Prada and Manolos like the rest of us

Hi bundle, managed to miss you at the last meetup -- must have been distracted by the semi-naked Italian waiters. Must say hello to you this time!

bundle · 21/04/2005 18:06

deffo frogs, were you over in the corner? i was hogging pamina/marina

frogs · 21/04/2005 19:24

I was sitting in the middle of the U-shaped table arrangement which meant that whichever way I turned, I still had my back to someone!

bundle · 21/04/2005 19:30

v unsatisfactory seating design. esp if the naked waiters had been trying to attract your attention..

frogs · 21/04/2005 19:59

Yeah. Bummer.

Kayleigh · 26/04/2005 12:52

Hi everyone - haven't been on here for ages (i've actually had to do some work....) and really keen to see you all. Unfortunately can't make Thurs but will really try and come to the next one.

I should be able to make it. Is a highchair possible for DS2?

I liked the food last time, but found the restaurant a bit noisy and echoey - had a hard time hearing people, frankly.

Kayleigh · 10/05/2005 12:11

NotQuiteCockney, no problem with highchair.

I know what you mean re restaurant although to be fair that was quite a big gathering. And most other restaurants in the city are very noisy at lunchtime - or hideously expensive. In the past there have only been 6 or 8 of us so not so difficult.
Pizza Pomodoro is very amenable re children and changing numbers at short notice. Also good location wise which is why we tend to stick to it most times. If anyone has any other suggestions would be happy to try somewhere different next time.

Well, I have a slightly left-field suggestion for the summer months...how about bring sandwiches/coffee to an al fresco city meet in Finsbury Circus next time? Then we can turn the nippers loose to the surprise and delight of nearby childless couples/immaculate singletons etc...
Also gets round the slight problems posed by public service drones such as me really only being able to come along for 45 mins...
Still on for Thurs and looking forward to it Kayleigh!

NotQuiteCockney · 10/05/2005 12:43

Kayleigh, I know what you mean about noisy venues, you're right, the City is just such a popular lunching area. (I always liked going a bit east of the City, but I'm sure lots of people are coming from the western bits of the city, anyway, Liverpool Street is very practical.)

I'd be on for an outdoors lunch, whenever. Very good idea.

Kayleigh · 10/05/2005 14:38

oooh yes like the picnic idea Marina. Might need a last minute alternative though for if the british weather lets us down.

In the meantime we'll all have to promise to speak up and enunciate beautifully.

beachyhead · 11/05/2005 11:10

Happy to picnic too - just think I'll only be able to do the June one, then I'll be on maternity leave - yippee!!!! then I'll come in September with young beachybabe for some cuddles - I'm getting sooo excited, now!

binkie · 11/05/2005 14:21

Won't be able to make tomorrow - have presentation at work on joining childcare voucher scheme (qualified hurray, as it sounds monstrously complex). Have a lovely time!

PS on alternative places to meet up - picnic always a good idea - Marina, there are some quite nice little parks and even unexpected playgrounds north of where you & I are; other idea could be Spitalfields market, which I don't know but always hear interesting things of.

Kayleigh · 12/05/2005 07:43

It's today !!

Marina, I have pamina3 on my list, but I guess she won't be coming.
Binkie, sorry you can't make it, see you soon X
DickWhittingtonsCat, you haven't cancelled yet that's a good sign
