Falkirk area anyone?

I have a 16 month old DD and am expecting my second DD in a few weeks.

Have just moved and would love to get to know someone in my area.

Most play/toddler groups in my area have shut down so I find myself being stuck in the house most days.

Hopefully someone is out there who would like to start a play group or get together with the kiddies.

Thanks!

There are quite a few Mumsnetters in the central belt but we seem to be quite srpead out.

Every so often we have meet-ups in Glasgow or Edinburgh (even did an evening one inFalkirk a couple of years ago).

SOme thoers do meet up more informally - keep an eye out.

I'm in Glasgow and my ds is 8, so no use to you! I cna only make weekend meet-ups as I also work full time.

emmabemmasmom · 24/03/2009 14:05

Hey a message!!

Thank you for the information! It is hard for me to get out and about with my DD and being very pregnant at the moment, so was hoping to find someone close to meet.

Ah well you never know eh? Hopefully someone will come along who wants the same thing.

Thanks again though. Nice to hear from someone!

I'm in Falkirk!
And remember the night out well PB. Think i was the only one drinking!

PrammyMammy · 29/03/2009 18:54

Hey Emma,
I am in Falkirk also :D
I have a ds who is 15 months and i am expecting dc2 in September.
I work three days a week in the Howgate but that is all i do at the moment!
Where did you move from? x

emmabemmasmom · 29/03/2009 19:22

Wow people!! lol

I am from Chicago. Even thought I have been here for over 2 years, I found out I was pregnant with DD as soon as I got here. Nobody would hire me so I was not able to meet friends that way and now I am having DD #2 lol

Hi Emma,

I work fulltime so not around during the day.

There are still lots of toddler/play groups in falkirk though.... do a google search.

PrammyMammy · 29/03/2009 23:05

Hey,
Chicago! Wow, Lucky you.
I just started working in Aug after having ds and found out i was pregnant again in Jan, but im always tiered atm so it is such a drag - keep having to rush to the toilet to be sick lol.
When are you due your dd2? Exciting :D
There is a toddler group in the Dawson Center in Bainsford, on Monday and Friday mornings, but i don't know any others. There is also LingoBaby in Larbert library, or there used to be, that taught toddlers French through song. I think it is/was on Thursday - they have a Bebo page i'm sure. x

emmabemmasmom · 30/03/2009 09:23

Hi toothache and prammy!

I have done searches for play groups and whatnot. My only issue is that I don't drive (as of yet) and my DD sleeps until 8 or sometimes 9 (not that I am complaining!!) And I put her to bed at 7!! And I refuse to wake a sleeping baby lol So, I find it difficult to find something that starts later so I can get up and get myself and DD ready, iykwim?

Also, unfortunatly, the ones within walking distance have been shut down because of lack of people (which I find strange). So I just find it hard...

Prammy: I bet it is hard to work! I was working (temp agency) when I found out and god it was aweful. I had to ask people to hold more than once so I could run to be sick! I am due in May so only 7 weeks to go!! Wish she would come now lol

Hi all just spotted this. If any of you are interested we have a meet-up tomorrow at the Sprinkerse View, Stirling, 1 for 1.30ish. If you don't drive you could get a bus to Stirling centre then a bus to Morrisons - it is across the road from Morrisons next to the Hotel. The April meet-up is in Alloa at Kidzworld but I am hoping to make some in Falkirk in the future - i live in Stirling so am not very familiar with Falkirk yet. I am going to Playzar on Saturday so will check it out for possible future meet.
I'm chairmum for netmums local site but have been on Mumsnet for years now. Maybe see some of you there.x

PrammyMammy · 30/03/2009 20:45

I didn't feel very welcome when i took ds to the one near me tbh, everyone was way older than me, they all had their own groups and didn't seem to want to mix lol.
Where in Falkirk are you? I am in Bainsford, not so far from town, so handy for getting about.
Oo only 7 weeks that's exciting. You dd will be here just in time for the summer.

Rumpel · 30/03/2009 20:49

Just to add sometimes you just need to stick your neck out and force yourself to chat to people at these things - there may be quite a few shy people there. If they are cliquey and don't make you feel welcome that is just rude but butt in - that's what I do

PrammyMammy · 30/03/2009 21:23

hey, i missed your post last time rumple.
I honestly don't have a clue about Stirling, i know how to get to the shopping center and good green fun from the train station, but thats it lol.
Oo we go to Playzar or Cadwinkles on Saturdays when dp is at work, it is fun. There is a new soft play opening soon, it's called The Buzz here was supposed to open in Jan :O.

Rumpel · 31/03/2009 10:52

PRAMMY - the bus station is across the road from the train station and good green fun is on the Sprinkerse retail park - which is where Sprinkerse view is - it's about another half mile along the road though.

You'll have about the same age gap as my two. DD is 2.5 and DS is 8 months. It's rotten being pregnant - I hate it. I'll let you know when the Falkirk meet is - I'm trying to get a right hand chairmum for the Falkirk area. If you are in Playzar on saturday come say hi to me - i've got a pink fringe and will be with DD at a kids party.

PrammyMammy · 31/03/2009 11:42

Oo well, i maybe i know more than i thought. Stirling center isn't very big though is it, every time i have needed to go somewhere it always seems close to the station.
Do you think that is a good age gap? Everyone with a similar gap say it is really easy, but at the moment all i can think about is two sets of nappies ha!
I'm supposed to be at work today, but i was sent home because i think i have a urine infection. Rubbish. So i am sitting feeling sorry for myself the now.
I will indeed say hi if i'm around on Saturday, my niece had her 3rd birthday party in Playzar, it was so busy but the kids loved it, they had a seperate party room for the cake and food too which was nice.
If you need any help with anything while arranging the Falkirk meet let me know :D

Rumpel · 31/03/2009 20:08

Hi Prammy - the party is Sunday not Saturday! I'm going to arrange may's meet for the Falkirk area - not sure where yet though April is going to be Kidzworld in Alloa - check out the public transport and see if you can come. Urine infection - poor you - drink plenty of cranberry juice to flush it out. TBH I wouldn't really know about the age gap - you just sort of get on with it. I had a helluva time when DS was newborn as DD gave him chickenpox when he was 18 hours old (of course we didn't know until the spots came out 3 weeks later) and he had horrendous reflux - which wasn';t diagnosed until much later either But it is fine now - just a bit difficult to get out the house quickly but I suppose it's like that no matter how many you have! DD was a wee bit jealous when she realised he was here to stay but she is great now and she will give him his dummy, bottle, fetch things for him and keep him entertained - he giggles like mad at her- utterly adores her but I wouls imagine a lot of it is to do with their nature.

Hope you feel better soon.

xxx

PrammyMammy · 02/04/2009 18:41

Hey,
Good job you found that out before Saturday lol.
Aww, your poor babies with chickenpox, what a nightmare. Yeh, you just need to get on with it! It is the same age gap that my sister and i have and we are close today, but fought like mad as we grew up. Silly lol.
I will look into Kidzworld, shouldn't be to hard to find though. What is it? A soft play?

Rumpel · 02/04/2009 20:03

Yep softplay with baby area and cafe. Nightmare today - both got colds and up most of the night with my wee chappie. head is bursting with them today ARGGGG thank God DH is home tomorrow night.

PrammyMammy · 05/04/2009 14:30
