Would love to but I can't come out to play that day.

Does it still have the 1977 mural of the Queen's 25th silver jubilee?

Page62 · 19/02/2009 15:24

sorry haven't checked this in ages, but in the diary and still coming!

i have no idea what polish food is but i am up for anything (within reason)!

i am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of these markets.

Squiffy, it must be awful at yours as well?

I think i will be an incognito employee of an investment bank from now on -- a lot of people seem to be happy to lump us together with the ones responsible for the credit crisis. If anybody asks, i am a volunteer for Amnesty Int'l from now on.....

blimey, where did this rant come from?

catch up soon!

BecauseImWorthIt · 19/02/2009 15:54

You could always say you're a traffic warden!

FriarKewcumber · 19/02/2009 15:56

not sure I can make the whole evening but I hope at the very least I can squeeze a drink in...

AtheneNoctua · 19/02/2009 17:26

That would be great Kew.

Page62, so long as you feel better now, we'll tell them anything you like.

But, would you mind paying for dinner for everyone on account of your rediculous bonus?

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 19/02/2009 18:07

AN, did you miss the bit where i was asking Squiffy if it was AWFUL at hers too?

i blame the americans.....

AtheneNoctua · 20/02/2009 08:52

Yes, of course you do. All of the sins in this world are somewhere and somehow attributed to America.

I definately need a drink because I got a doughnut. Which is city speak for cutting off your cojonas not getting a bonus. They cancelled all bonuses across the whole of the bank, so I am in position of probably having to make my delightful nanny redundant. soooooooo grim. The only light humour that has come out of it so far has been the attitude of the board; part of one of their statements read "We are not paying bonuses. As a bank, we want employees who aren?t interested in material things". See? The Germans do have a sense of humour after all.

Anyway, when I am not looking for another job working hard I will call and make a reservation for next week. I'll see you all there. For those who don't know me, I'll be the one crying into the dumplings.

Squiffy · 20/02/2009 14:25

By the way, as far as 'spokette' is concerned I got my usual '2 mill or so', OK?

Squiffy · 20/02/2009 14:54

Table booked for 7pm in name of Lisa.

AtheneNoctua · 20/02/2009 16:24

Sorry, Squiff.

Thanks for booking the table.

oh sorry squiffy
i think it's going to be grim in the city for a while....
let's drown ourselves in vodka!

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/02/2009 21:48

Thanks Squiffy - only just seen this re reservations. My name means "cheap" in Polish so they probably would have tittered a bit when taking the booking!

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/02/2009 22:29

sorry to hear that squiffy.

Squiffy · 21/02/2009 18:22

Well, I was holding up ok, until my DH suggested he could put in a good word for me at the place he is currently working at.

The Inland Revenue

On the positive side, I think my boss might be leaving as well, so if he goes first I might just manage to sneak myself into his COO role, which will look soooooooo much better on my CV... And the funniest is that I have drafted a lovely letter to HR politely explaining that in the four days a week that I work, I am putting in an average of 4 hours a day beyond my contracted 7 hours and therefore I am effectively working compressed hours, not part time, and explaining that I need to switch my salary back to full-time equivalent. Et voila! 25% pay rise and extra 25% on any future redundancy package . Now, should I push to have it backdated???

We might be money grasping *ankers in the city, but we don't miss a trick

AtheneNoctua · 22/02/2009 10:12

I recon the IR is bloody wealthy. They can probably afford to pay bonuses. I keep wondering if anyone in government gets any kind of performance based bonus. Now wouldn't that be a fun news story.
