OP posts:
pollypumpkin · 04/01/2008 15:50

I'm in Berko with 3 DC, youngest is 7.5 now - I hope some pg people/people with younger ones check back in soon, Dunstable's not that far away is it!

gerbo · 06/01/2008 14:19

Hello iampgatlast and pollypumpkin - just checked google maps and you're not too far away...am up for a coffee if you fancy one - how are you feeling, iampgatlast?! Must be excited!

iampgatlast · 06/01/2008 15:57

hiya gerbo,

Alambil · 06/01/2008 17:03

I'm in HH so tring is 10 mins away on the A41

I drive, am 25 have a 5yr old and am free in daytimes til I start my PGCE in Sept!

Alambil · 06/01/2008 17:04

oops mn went mad and posted before I finished!

I meant to say I can get to Dunstable (love the Downs!) and Tring/Berko all within 20 mins so could come to meet you all

iampgatlast · 06/01/2008 17:52

hi lewisfan!

we love the downs too, nothing like taking a bag of chips from the chippy covered in salt and vinegar and munching away looking at the views

i can also drive so getting to places isnt a problem...although at the moment not to keen on straying too far away from home being heavily pregnant

i am on maternity leave so free daytimes also.

Alambil · 06/01/2008 20:23

iampg I think you are wise not going too far from the hospital! Will you be going to the L&D or do you have to go to Watford?

We should all arrange a time to meet up - seems less scary if it is a few meeting together lol lol (not that you are scary... I'm just shy!)

iampgatlast · 06/01/2008 23:08

i am planning a homebirth, i wasnt too impressed with the l and d when i went on the tour and i dont want to be pressurised whilst in labour to fit in with their time scale. i think i will feel more comfortable in my own environment and taking the more "natural" appraoch just hope the midwife agrees on tuesday

lol you havnt seen me lewisfan - i can be quite scary on a bad day!! i totally agree the more the merrier, be nice to get a little coffee group together.

FlorenceFarkingNightingale · 06/01/2008 23:14

I'm in Herts too, but further north east than the rest of you. I do go to Whipsnade quite often though, so am happy to meet people there any time. Have you tried looking in Mumsnet local for you areas too?

(am normally CantSleepWontSleep btw)

Alambil · 07/01/2008 00:01

oh hello CSWS how are you?

We should all meet up at the Downs in the spring/summer (FAR too cold at the mo!)

SexySAHM · 07/01/2008 00:17

Hi kez, I live in Aylesbury.

WriggleJiggle · 07/01/2008 00:18

An Easter picnic maybe? Sounds good.

Coffee sometime sooner sounds good also. Gerbo, why don't you suggest a time and place and we'll see how many can make it.

gerbo · 07/01/2008 11:25

Wow! What a good response. I was wondering if I was going to be the only mumsnetter in the area...

OK - how about we all meet for coffee? I will be brave and go for it - Friday 18th any good??

Secondly, where is best? I would suggest Tring, but I'm just as willing to come to Hemel or Berkhampstead on the train (I don't drive - helpful!)...Any general concensus?

Hope to hear from you!

iampgatlast · 07/01/2008 12:32

hiya cantsleepwontsleep, sexysahm and wrigglejiggle - quite a few of us now!!

friday 18th sounds good - 11 days before due date

i dont really know any areas other than dunstable so will leave it for someone else to suggest a suitable place.

gerbo · 07/01/2008 12:46

iampgatlast - can you make Tring? Is that too far in your condition?!? I know how you feel in those last few weeks...I worked until 38 weeks - it was exhausting.

If Tring's ok, we could go to the Natural History Museum cafe which I haven't been to yet but I'm sure it's lovely if anything like the one in London - should be great cake....

Let us know how you feel...

PellMell · 07/01/2008 12:57

I'm up for coming if the Tring Museum is the location.
dd2 and I are free that day.

gerbo · 07/01/2008 13:01

Sounds good Pellmell - hope the others can come too...

Would morning be ok for everyone? Say around 10am? Then we have an hour or two before the little ones need to be having their lunchtime naps. Just a thought.

PellMell · 07/01/2008 14:16

yes that a good time.
dd is 2.6 and probably at the better end of the terrible two's spectrum in the morning .

FlorenceFarkingNightingale · 07/01/2008 15:09

Sorry ladies - I can't do Friday mornings, as I run a toddler group then, but have a lovely time and stuff some cake down your necks for me .

Not that I know anything at all about Tring, but I didn't know it had a Natural History Museum. Is it big/interesting/manic toddler friendly?!

iampgatlast · 07/01/2008 15:44

gerbo - tring is fine, not far at all! so 10am on the 18th. just hope i can find it lol as i have never actually driven there.

shame you cant make it florence but dont worry il make up your number on wolfing down some cake!

gerbo · 07/01/2008 18:53

Hello all - ok - how about Thursday morning at ten instead??? the 17th? Then Florence could come too maybe?

Thursday good?

PellMell · 07/01/2008 20:01

oh sorry, friday is the only day I can do due to work,pre-school pick up times etc.

Don't re-arrange though. I will get to a meet up one day

gerbo · 07/01/2008 20:38

Ok - let's keep it as Friday as that's the first day people knew about, and Florence can join us next time hopefully?

Friday at 10 in the Natural History Museum cafe. DD and I will be there eating cake and drinking latte. Hope to see people!

Perhaps another day for the next meet?

gerbo · 07/01/2008 20:39

Oh Florence - we will report back on the museum for you - have heard it's great for kids.
