I've been only once to the double locks. Last summer. It was freezing . Lovely though.
No, actually I went another time.

CountessDracula · 23/05/2008 11:11

I read in the paper there was a bomb in Exeter yesterday is that true?

francagoestohollywood · 23/05/2008 11:16

'tis true (see how I keep up to date with the country who nurtured us for many years ?). Apparently someone who converted to Islam, I've just had a quick look on thisisexeter...

francagoestohollywood · 23/05/2008 11:18

sorry, didn't finish the post. He walked into Giraffe restaurant and the bomb exploded in his hands in the toilet.
I'm . Exeter city centre is tiny, I was nr that place almost daily...

CountessDracula · 23/05/2008 11:18

in Giraffe

Lovely

Targeting kids

Fennel · 23/05/2008 11:19

Yes, The Exeter (failed) Toilet Bomber. Exeter is a happening cosmopolitan place, you know. We even have our own Terrorists. Though they are a bit incompetent.

it makes us ex city dwellers feel quite at home.

francagoestohollywood · 23/05/2008 11:29

Yes, it's shocking.
Though it confirms my theory that children are safer at nursery

Fennel · 26/05/2008 10:04

Bumping this to remind people we are meeting on Wednesday. Though it might be a bit bracing, weather-wise.

getbackinyouryurtjimjams · 26/05/2008 10:34

We'll come if its dry, but not if its wet (haven't tried a pub with ds1 for about 6 years and I think inside would be too much to hope for!) What time are people planning to get there?

Fennel · 26/05/2008 10:58

It says on the website that food is served 12-2.30, what about meeting at 12 or 12.30 in case there is a long wait for food etc? Or is that too early for people?

If it really is rainy though it's going to be awfully noisy in any pub with lots of children.

ds1 wouldn't mind the noise but I'd have no chance of keeping him out of the toilets/kitchen/behind the bar/anywhere he's not allowed to go.....

If it's sunny we'll get there fore 12 so we can order early...

Fennel · 26/05/2008 11:09

oh yes do come Hoochiemomma, the more the merrier.

I think we'll have to try being outside even if the weather is mediocre. It would be a lot easier.

how many have we got coming now? I think:

Fennel,
Pageturner,
Rhubarb,
Belcantivinissima,
Yurt (maybe),
Hoochiemomma,
Greensleeves (who hasn't posted here but she told me she would come),
Tiggertonkertruck (hiding in bushes)

That's quite a lot of children isn't it?

pageturner · 26/05/2008 16:07

Yes, I'll be there. Meet at 12?

The forecast is diabolical, but I'd have thought with those kind of numbers, who's going to argue with us?!

pageturner · 26/05/2008 16:07

If we're inside I mean...

Fennel · 26/05/2008 16:12

I can't really think of a better indoor option without really confusing everyone. At least the pub does have an indoors, it'll just be a bit rowdy.

(not mine of course, having ONLY girls, my 3 are silent and docile impeccably mannered at all times .... )

The Imperial might be a good wet weather bet yes (and it has a big outdoors if the weather did perk up, though no play area).

What shall we do? Double locks is quite nice inside on a wet day if there are only a few of you, but it'd be squashed with lots of us. The Imperial is huge.

I don't know the Orangery (unless you mean the conservatory in the Imperial?)

We are going to have to make a Decision soon aren't we? where are the others to say what they think? I know some of those who said they would/might are away still.

pageturner · 27/05/2008 12:35

I can do either - am a bit concerned that inside the Double Locks is so small, as it looks like there may be lots of us. I've not been to The Imperial but it does sound as though it would cater better for a large group with lots of children and uncertain weather! The forecast isn't helpful atm, rain AND sun... It's not as nice a venue to persuade Rrhubarb to move down here though!
