Stealthpolarbear - are Fridays still the only day you can do?

BouncingTurtle · 17/05/2008 11:56

So meetup week on Saturday, yes I can do that

Sorry Turtle forgot to come post here

Saturday 31st cake eating and mess making competition

Any votes on time and place? It will be the continental market in Durham that weekend, on the plus side yummy things to eat (if you ignore the prices) but on the minus side probably makes it even busier than usual.

oregonianabroad · 18/05/2008 15:46

Hello!
Haven't seen this before and don't want to crash, but I'm sure I saw one of you today walking down by the river in Durham, we were the ones w/2 tots in backpacks???

(does this make me sound nuts?)

Indith · 18/05/2008 16:13

Was she giving off MN vibes oregonian? Not me though, have been stuck in here procrastinating revising while dp took ds into town for a play on the swings by the river and a muffin in Leonards.

StealthPolarBear · 18/05/2008 16:18

Ooh I love that market
My day off tends to vary week to week at the moment, not sure if it will ever settle down.
oregon - are you joining us? (wasn't me btw)

oregonianabroad · 18/05/2008 20:36

Definitely a MN look about them. Next time anyone hears an American chasing after 2 boys, it's me.

I'd love to join you on the 31st, but will be away visiting PILs in Brum. Will keep an eye on this for next time, if I may be so bold??

BouncingTurtle · 19/05/2008 07:32

Well I was walking along the river Sunday morning, with my husband and ds in the pram, at around 9am towards Prince Bishop and then at just after 11am walking back the other way.
Wasn't me was it? I was with DH with DS in the pram.

OMG, the nostalgia of seeing Saddlers, Leonards and Vennels mentioned!

(went to university in Durham, say hello to it for me)

kiskideesameanoldmother · 19/05/2008 08:03

just got the message. i didn't know you were 'local' oregonian! have you chosen a babycarrier? You are willing to try out some of my carriers if you come along one day.

I will be there on the 31st. I will be coming back from ehm, Barcelona on the Friday. can't wait

oregonianabroad · 19/05/2008 10:25

Maybe it was you, BouncingTurtle, at around 11; we passed each other just near the Durham Cow & the swings I think?

How wierd, my MN radar is working.

Kiskidee, I bought the littlelife ultra (which ds2 was in yesterday) and the patapum thinking I would send one back, but have talked dh into letting me keep them both! The patapum will be great for the plane and the ultra is brill for long walks (e.g. Shincliffe garden centre to Durham Market Square -- are you impressed??!). Someone asked me about it in town and I found myself giving them a full-on sales pitch. Thanks again for all your help!

Am sad I'm going to miss this -- please do it again!!

Threadwworm · 19/05/2008 10:31

How did you know she was an MNer?

oregonianabroad · 19/05/2008 11:03

just a feeling.

Threadwworm · 19/05/2008 11:05

Next time I walk along the Durham riverbank I will coat myself in lead paint to keep the vibes in.

oregonianabroad · 19/05/2008 11:33

I'll still sniff you out.

tescos, the farm, Action Replay, the park in Coxhoe -- you can't hide forever!

(this is a joke, BTW, I am sounding loopier by the minute)

oregonianabroad · 19/05/2008 11:36

On reflection, I think it has something to do with eye contact and smiling in a friendly, sharing-the-mayhem-kind-of-manner at familes with kids as they pass each other in a somewhat chaotice fashion. Lots of people don't bother, the few that do smile back make me think, 'must be a MNer!!'

Threadwworm · 19/05/2008 12:09

Have been to all those places (can't remember what Action Replay is but I'm sure I've been there!)

oregonianabroad · 19/05/2008 12:15

Action Replay is a soft-play place in Bowburn, it's a little bit grotty and the toilets are freezing, but it's usually quiet during the week and good on a rainy day.

(this is competely off topic now, isn't it?)

Indith · 19/05/2008 20:06

I have an exam in Elvet Riverside on Wednesday MrsJohn, I'll give it a wave

Forgot you were going to Barcelona Kiskidee, very .

Don't worry oregonian, we seem to be becoming fairly regular cake eaters

How about the Threadworm? Do worms eat cake?

BouncingTurtle · 19/05/2008 20:08

Wow!! IS that why people keep avoiding me, coz I give off weird MN vibes!
If it's a nice day we should get some eats from the continental market, or bring our own food and have a picnic!

OP posts:
Indith · 19/05/2008 20:26

Yum, that is a good idea BT. Ds and I had a mini picnic on Palace Green today and he showed off lots walking around. He can just about cross a room now but it was very wobbly, still all the old ladies seemed to think his routine of toddle, splat, toddle, splat while chatting and singing was very cute.

MrsJohnCusack · 19/05/2008 21:35

Palace Green /
that;s where I spent most of my time, at the music department

Indith · 19/05/2008 21:41

Awww. I am a Castle JCR member so still spend a fair bit of time around there. Shall miss it once I've graduated, so useful to be able to pop into college on a soggy day in town with ds!

StealthPolarBear · 19/05/2008 21:46

lol at your DS Indith!
I did a cartwheel on Palace Green (ahh the memories)

Indith · 19/05/2008 21:51

A cartwheel?! Bloody hell woman!

What have I done on Palace Green?.....played croquet while getting very ever so slightly tipsy on pimms and G&T, been dumped (the night before my Russian oral no less, but I'm marrying him now so that makes up for it ), erm...hmmm, you know I've been a student here for 5 years and I don't think I've had a snowball fight or built a snowman on Palace Green! That has got to be wrong.
