Hi - can't make the Midlands meet up myself, but I wondered the same....good luck! I'm sure it will be fine and everyone's got at least one thing in common.

Please will you start a thread after telling the rest of us what it was like?

Kayleigh · 10/11/2004 21:32

I am a meet-up slut . Have been to loads, most notably the city meet-ups and the Watford/Barnet/Herts meet-ups. Going to the first one was nerve wracking but as soon as you meet the others it is absolutely fine.

Have met a lot of lovely people and made some good friends.

Enjoy your meet-ups.

I'm going to my first meet-up tomorrow night and I'm dead nervous already.
I hope that success of meetups is generally down to how friendly everybody on here is.
On the other hand read scary thread about unsuccessful meet up - from one person's point of view - which reminded me that if you don't make the effort, you might not get to talk to too many people and therefore not enjoy it.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid that I might not be the sort of person who is good at making the effort - don't mean to sound bone idle but, well, I feel like there's a knack which I don't have.
Oh dear. Still looking forward to meet up!
Conclusion - just go for it. Could be great and lots of fun. Might just be a bit scary, but you'll still have MN.

unicorn · 10/11/2004 22:14

lockets.. have mentioned the Sw London meetup in another thread..check withn the Countess, I'm sure you will be welcome.

I am a MN meetup virgin... but am planning on going to various ones in the coming weeks (I hope someone talks to me!!!!)

Also hope everyone is as nice as they are here! (RL can be a pain sometimes tho!!!)

Kayleigh · 10/11/2004 22:15

jamiesam, smile a lot and ask the others about their kids, ask to see pictures of their kids (9 out of 10 mumsnetters carry a picture around!). That should break the ice.

I hope you have a lovely evening.

roisin · 10/11/2004 22:18

Jamiesam - I can vouch for Wedgiesmum at least; she is a lovely lovely person. I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time at the spa, and I'm extremely envious of you all.

jamiesam · 10/11/2004 22:26

Kayleigh and Roisin.
Thanks ever so much for that. Will be thinking about you both tomorrow night!
(smile, smile, smile)(and fgs remember to bring some photos of my crew)

I'm in Southfields and would appreciate a local meet up. My issue is that I work f/t and find that everything does on during the week. Whilst working means you're not lonely it does mean you're totally divorced from motherhood in many ways.

Kayleigh · 23/11/2004 10:55

jamiesam, how was your meet-up ???

yingers74 · 23/11/2004 14:30

ahhhh mrsbigd, you are so sweet!

RudyDudy · 23/11/2004 14:36

Hi Lavender - I haven't been to a meet up (yet!) but sure if you go with an open mind and are up for meeting new people then all will be well.

Lockets - I'd be up for a Southfields meet up too!
