Hello there, I couldnt get it together to join the NCT and after the baby came I was shell shocked. Now life is starting to resemble sanity and wondering if there are any local mums to chat/make friends/share tips. Please read my profile. Brand new to Mumsnet so not very familar with lingo. Bit baffled actually. Anyhow hoping to hear from y'all.

I joined the local NCT when DD was 13 months old, you don't have to join when your baby is tiny.

Saying that, I'm sure you'll find loads of people on here too

oh really..I could try them. Might try mumsnet though as I'm a bit nervous of the nct...they wrernt very helpful when I was pregnant said it was too late for me to join a group?! Something or other about being too late.

Also you can go to NCT coffee mornings etc without being a member

I recently moved from streatham hill where I had a few friends with babies and used to do lots of stuff in the area. Can I help you in any way? Put you in touch with some lovely ladies or answer any questions about stuff going on locally?

thnks! i could go along, normally feel so confident but i have these visions of chummy mummies and perfect sprongs and feelin inadequate. gosh i just need to be brave.

There are plenty of non-NCT mother and toddler/baby groups around in Streatham or at least there used to be (check out almost any church hall). You could look into one o'clock clubs as well. (I was put off the NCT by my boss telling me it was the best way to meet Nice People - friends' experiences suggest I didn't miss much and saved quite a bit of money).

(I'm a bit beyond that stage now as my youngest is 8.)

hi jorange5, do you think one of you friends know of any nearby baby signing clubs, dd would love a good sing song? i'm so grateful for your post

jorange5 · 28/11/2007 12:50

I will ask them now.

My friend would really like you to get in touch with her. She used to host an NCT tea group but says the NCT has nothing going on at the moment. She has a 6 month old son and doesn't really know many others with children around that age (she also has a 2 year old). She lives by Streatham Hill.

How do I do this though? I don't really want to put my email address on here!

Oh Hi jorange5 sorry for the delay in posting...very busy weekend. Hope yo had a fab weekend, the gusts of wind were quite strong and my cat looked like he was in a windtunnel when out in the garden. Is your friend on mumsnet? If she has a username I can contact her.

Thanks for all your help.
