Not going to tell DD until she notices a bump!

Browny · 04/12/2007 21:22

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/12/2007 18:23

Hello all
has everyone got deccies up yet?? Think I bought the biggest tree going as its over 7ft..pmsl You shall see it on DD1s bday..lol

What has everyone been up to?? Obviously we have been attached to the house a lot waiting for a new window which is getting fitted tommorow. House is now like fort knox at bed time and takes forever to lock up..pmsl
What are everyones plans over the christmas and new year??? Christmas is quiet for us although dh now has to work xmas eve he has boxing day off though so have invited pil to us...god help me!!!

Browny · 06/12/2007 18:29

Nemo, tree sounds fabulous - how on earth did you get it home? I'd love a real Christmas tree this year, but I've no idea which one to buy or what kind of stand you need, someone told me you need to keep topping it up with water? We've got our lights up at the window and ds1 is bugging me to put the tree up tonight, thing is I have to crawl under the eves in the loft to find it!

I've got my dad, his cousin and my brother for Xmas lunch, no idea where we'll all be sitting, I might have to go to Home & Bargain for some lap trays .

JustJaamy · 06/12/2007 18:47

All Christmassed up here too! We Have always had a real tree, and yes Browny - the best way to keep it is to put it in a pot and keep topping up with water. They sup loads when first bought but then not so much as they die off but it means that they do hold their needles longer. This year we made the mistake of going to Wyevale (we had a voucher) and it's been a bit droopy, or it could be the thousands of deccies that DDs have been piling on LOL!

Going to sister's in Birkdale for Christmas dinner/evening after a nice peaceful(!) morning at home. Then mum and Dad coming over on Boxing day which will make for a cheery time (not!)

Go on then everyone, tell me your glamorous plans for New Year's Eve nad make me !

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/12/2007 18:52

ohh browny this is the first year we have had a real one since kids..we got a scotch pine but had it put on a wooden base..am not watering as it didnt think about it to be honest..despite jaamy telling me I should

biglips · 06/12/2007 20:25

weve had our tree up since 2nd Decemeber. At first we was gonna put up a fake tree but it kept falling over!! so Dp went out and came back with a "6 foot tree"....yeah!! it was a 8 foot tree!!!! but its FAB!! (and it was free too as Dp won abit of money on the Roulette next door to the Xmas tree shop was )

The kids had a brilliant time putting the deccys on...i thought 'Yeah this is great!'...then suddenly DD starting to take the deccys off the tree! She said "its not Xmas yet...its dark!"

ive told her the FC that is sitting on top had got real eyes and is watching yyyooouuuu!!!

biglips · 06/12/2007 20:26

yes you do need to water it as ours is in a tree metal stand and put water in there..gonna keep checking the water still there to water the tree.....and important to keep the heating in the room low as the needles will stay on the tree longer

merrydaisy · 06/12/2007 20:51

I am the only one who hasn't got decs up?

My bathrroom isn't finished yet!

Biglips -forgot about Southport meet up - won't be able to go. Can't find thread though, if you are watching it can you pass on my apologies?

Browny- mum and dad were in shock but chuffed. Boss is brill, she keeps coming to check on me!
I will tell the rest of the family on Christmas Day.

I got up this morning and seem to have a bump that wasn't there when I went to bed last night, surely 7 weeks is too early to be starting to show? I wasn't intending to tell work people until the end of Jan.

biglips · 06/12/2007 21:35

MD - ok ill pass it on for you. Most of the women show early on their 2nd than their 1st child....so maybe u have already got a bump!

JustJaamy · 06/12/2007 22:08

MD - you'll just have to tell everyone that you've started the Christmas festivities a bit early!

Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Am waiting to find out over the next couple of days whether there's been some sort of immaculate conception here!

JustJaamy · 06/12/2007 22:18

Can I please trouble you to look in this direction for a moment?

Many thanks!

Here!

undertheMRSEI25toe · 06/12/2007 23:25

hi ladies!!
we have put r deccys up aswell and they look so festive!! we bought a new fake tree as ours was drowned by the recent flat roof collapse disaster ala ei's house!!lol we decided to put it out in th entry rather than waste the expence of a 'proper funeral'!! the old fakey tree that is not some random creature!!
sooo is this meet up goin ahead??th other thread about it seems to have fizzled out a bit!!lol
i am available any evening really aswell so if that makes things easier to choose a day mid-week where we can all get together that would be fine with me!!
anywho... im testing this weekend so fingers crossed i wont be far behind you merrydaisy xx
xx ei xx

JustJaamy · 07/12/2007 13:31

Ooooh, Ei, I'm testing too! We could be having twins...err...well sort of!!

Browny · 07/12/2007 13:32

undertheMRSEI25toe · 07/12/2007 14:25

jaamy- we could do a syncronised testing event!! iv decided this month isnt my month so im not too disappointed!! i will be though!! ah well it will happen eventually...(its only my first month actively 'tryin' and im already impatient!!)
poor DH is convinced i am up the duff and is already gettin excited about the prospect!! he wasnt like this first time round so i know how disappointed he is goin to be!! il have to get him some choccie and watch a weepy film!!
xx ei xx

merrydaisy · 07/12/2007 14:51

Good luck Jammy and Ei!

Browny · 07/12/2007 16:50

Good luck to Jammy and MrsEi , and congratulations on your new job MrsEi .

Jammy, what did you think of the Yellow Sub, is it worth a visit?

JustJaamy · 07/12/2007 17:37

HIya Browny!

Yellow Sub is very good. You could easily lose all your DCs in there and make a run for it without them noticing (not that you wold want to!). it is big and there is lots of room for adults to sit/chat/drink/coffee/have lunch. Food is very similar in tast and price as Grandma's.

Not great for parties, though...there were 3 on at the same time and then they tried to squeeze each group of about 30 kiddies and parents in to tiny roped off sections.

Nemo and I went back on Thurs (with Sticky Fingers who had done a deal on entry price). We have made a list of things that we thought were good and bad and will be shortly opening our own play centre! ... When we win the lottery!

Think is £3.95 for play during week and may be more at weekends. Possible new place for meet ups??????? It was quite quiet when we were there.

JustJaamy · 07/12/2007 17:39

Oh BTW - don't let DS2 stand on the chairs(!). DD2 got here foot stuck in one. Thought we were gong to have to call the fire brigade to get here out. Staff were a bit rubbish about it. Not sure how they'd cope if there was a real incident.

Browny · 07/12/2007 17:44

Hi Jammy!

Yellow Sub sounds great, shall we take the kiddies there soon then? about the chairs, hope your little dd2 wasn't too scared and thanks for the warning. Is it anywhere near Brunswick train station do you know? .

JustJaamy · 07/12/2007 19:14

It's right on the Mersey front, the Albert Dock side of Otterspool. I can't figure out from the map on www.yellowsub.co.uk whether it's near Brunswick station. May be you could take a look.

I practically go past your's on the way anyway so if we did arrange a meet up there I could pick you and DS up on the way through. I'd bring a booster seat for your DS so you could sit in the front this time instead of squashed in the back with the DCs!
