Hehe Kalex, have now posted under the correct thread title!

Just in case you didn't see this on the old Meetup thread, I'll paste my last post:

"Was having a think, as well as waterproofs, it might be worth bringing a wee torch for you and the kids, as we have no power between 12am and 8am, so if they need the loo in the night they might need it. There are battery operated lights in the rooms at the b&b but you might want a torch to accompany you to the loo!"

Ooooh I'm sooooo excited.....

Hey! There's going to be more mumsnetters per head of population on Muck than anywhere else in the world next week!
I want to be there

Welcome Bensmum - are you going to stay?

Miaou · 03/10/2004 21:14

Do you think we would win the prize for the most northerly meetup?

bensmum3 · 05/10/2004 10:10

Hi Roisin,
I run the B&B on Muck, so rushing around this am getting as tidy as you possibly can with 3 children,
weather forecast not too good, so digging out all the toys suitable for a 3 yr old,
haven't heard yet if they are going to share the maltesers
heard a lot about mums net from miaou, i think shes right this could be addictive !

Miaou · 05/10/2004 18:33

Well, Kalex is here! Nearly didn't make it, it is forecast for Force 9 gales here later today....

After a lunch and a look around, she came down to mine with dd1 and ds1, and we had a cuppa and a natter while they played - it was lovely to discover that we get on together as well face to face as we do on Mumsnet and the phone! Conversation flowed easily and the time flew by. Dd2 arrived home from school for a snack and a quick play, and made us both smile by saying to Kalex's dd1 "You know I really like you, dd1" after all of ten minutes!! (aw).

We then headed up to the school for after school club for some very giddy ball games, played by the children and adult helpers alike (myself and Kalex included) - in fact Kalex wondered afterwards who enjoyed it more, us adults or the kids...

...parted to go back to our respective residences for tea, hoping to meet up later on for proper grown-up conversation and WINE! (And malteasers )

Will report in later!!

Crikey! I hope the winds ease before she has to go back. Was it a bumpy crossing?

Have fun all - and have a glass of wine for me tonight!

snmum · 05/10/2004 18:41

Miaou · 05/10/2004 18:53

We will be toasting you all in your absence...!

We keep a v. close eye here on the weather forecasts Roisin - looks better for the end of the week!

Sounds like a fab few days for you all!

Flik · 05/10/2004 19:15

Have a lovely few day's, totally jealous one day I will convince dh that an out of the way holiday would be great.

Miaou · 07/10/2004 17:58

Hi again folks.

Kalex went home today - hope you got back safely, Kalex! - ferry crossing was a bit smoother than the outward journey! We had a brilliant time, the conversation (and wine) flowed and the time went so fast. We were talking until 2am (sorry Kalex)! My dds were very sad when they came back from school and found that Kalex, dd1 and ds1 had gone. Really hope we can meet up again soon!

roisin · 07/10/2004 18:17

Glad to hear you all had a great time

kalex · 08/10/2004 11:09

Back home safe and sound, we had a really lovely time, Miaou and Bens Mum were both utterly lovely. The kids were brilliant, and all played really nicely together.

The kids walked for miles and saw black faced sheep, cows and got thouroughly covered in mud at every available oppurtunity .

Bens Mum is a fab cook, and we ate like kings.

It's really horrible to be back to civilisation, I could really see myself living in a place like Muck.

Thank you to you both for making my stay so memorable!

Miaou · 08/10/2004 20:33

Glad you enjoyed yourself Kalex - we had a great time

Your'e far too kind kalex,
It was a pleasure to have you and the children to stay, maybe we'll see you again (in the summer next year !)

kalex · 08/10/2004 21:13

Bens Mum, I have just been on the phone to my mum, and she says I was the most animated I had been in months, I am definately coming next summer.

I just feel totally invigorated. The fresh air and the wonderful company, what more could a girl ask for.

Please call me when next down in Perth, we could even take the kids to the soft play area, and sit and have a cuppa and a natter.

PS Did you get the application away. Finger crossed.

PPS hope Baby B sleeps all night tonight He is gorgeous, please give those little cheeks a kis from me and the kids in the morning.

PPS Is the boat coming on Sunday, really hope you all get to the ceildah

kalex · 08/10/2004 21:16

And M, you are wonderful, I am so glad that you posted the message that made this all happen. You have my number and I have yours. I think we shall speak often, big kisses to C & E. GOD I already miss the island and you, today was terribly boring in comparision, I walked accross a tarmaced road - got into a car ( that smells of sick ) and it was so SUBURBAN!!!!!

frogs · 08/10/2004 21:42

Sorry to butt in, but wanted to express how jealous I am! I was already envious of Miaou's island lifestyle -- sadly a very very long way from East London, but would love to have joined you.

bensmum3 -- tried to cat you ages ago but didn't work. Do you still want the nappy nippas? At least I know where (if not who) you are!

bensmum3 · 08/10/2004 21:55

Hi, I just knew this was going to be addictive, (probably worse than my favourite drink )
Yes Kalex we did get the application away today,M & I up till the power went off last night and again right up till the boat came this am, (thankyou for the offer though)
Baby B is sleeping at the moment fingers x.And Yes the boat's coming on sunday so dd is extremely happy!!
hope the smell of sick doesnt last too long ! will call if we're near perth,

frogs, yes please i would still like the nippas, cant remember how much you wanted , i will try and cat you,

frogs · 08/10/2004 22:35

Don't want anything for them, bensmum, they're so light it's not worth it. CAT me your address (otherwise Miaou has my email address).

Have you and Miaou only just realised you're both MNers and live on the same island, or did I read that wrong?
