Gomez and Nailpolish: the Luton trains are more convenient, in that they get closer in London and you won't need to go on the tube but you do need to catch the (free and regular) shuttle bus to the Luton Airport Parkway station. Personally, I find that less of an inconvenience than the miles that yuo need to walk at Stansted, plus the secuirty is usually better (although Luton isn't as good as it used to be). It is also a quicker train into London.

I don't know about Edinburgh, but the Glasgow -Luton flights were also marginally cheaper than the Stansted ones (OK - by only £5 - but I am Scottish! ) However, I haven't costed in the overall cost, once you add on the return train ticket. From memory (from y business trips) the tow train fairs are much of a muchness.

I've looked at that Travelodge Rhubarb, all the cheap deal rooms are gone so a single is £71. Can't find any twins available.

I have found a B&B at Kings Cross that doesn't look too bad.

Saint George I am getting a double coming up at £71 too - booking directly on the Travelodge site.

Rhubarb - have you checked the trains on the Sunday to get home? I know you can't check exactly that far in advance yet but when I check the timings from Edinburgh or Glasgow as thought I might travel by train and revise they times were 9 or 10 hours to get home on a Sunday. Just thought I would mention it and sorry if I am teaching my granny to suck eggs as they say.

The "double room plus" can sleep 3 adults - if two of you are prepared to share a double bed!

If I do decide to come, I could speak to my boss - she has a "crash pad" somewhere in central London. it's just a studio flat, but she's not using it that weekend (she lives in Scotland), she might be prepared to let me use it.

I've just checked times for Sat and Sun this month and Sat/Sun next month and for getting back it'll take around 5 hours direct.

I don't mind much getting back, I'll need the rest.
