Hi! I'm in North Somerset; a little village very close to Bristol called Long Ashton.

Theclosetpagan · 21/08/2007 21:47

Ah - Madisons - now closed for good - too much noise and far to many - ahem - pavement pizzas.

fransmom · 21/08/2007 21:52

hi desi yes i heard of long ashton think we discussed it on a thread some couple of weeks back perhaps

Desiderata · 21/08/2007 21:58

I do believe we did, Fran

It's not a bad little place. It smells of manure, and yet you can be in Bristol in eight minutes!

pammo · 21/08/2007 22:05

Hi Desiderata, we viewed a few houses in Long Ashton when we were relocating 2 yrs ago from Warwickshire but decided on the estuary view in Portishead instead.

fransmom · 21/08/2007 22:17

i think i sense a meet-up brewing

Desiderata · 21/08/2007 23:54

So do I?

Long Ashton is basically a main road with cars going through it at high speed

It's very expensive, due to it's proximity to Bristol and Ashton Court.

Are you happy in Portishead?

wheresthevalium · 22/08/2007 09:31

Oooh, I have found you, I am about to move to Taunton from Bristol, anyone want to be my friend?

I am 29 and have 2 DDs aged 5 and almost 4, and my DPs DD every other weekend aged 3.6.

Any info/advice on being a Mummy in Taunton gratefully received!

rosealbie · 22/08/2007 09:36

wheresthevalium I have posted on your other thread but am also a Taunton mum. When are you moving?

pammo · 22/08/2007 11:25

Portishead is very attractive both the old and new parts. I can walk to the High St, Doctors, dentist and more importantly, Waitrose in 20 mins. It has a fab pool which attracts families from the other side of Bristol! It's a rapidly growing commuter town as you might know if you live nearby. On a practical basis, I'm more urban than rural so in the short term, Portishead suits us fine.

kiansmum · 29/08/2007 22:50

Hi ladies,
It's great to know there are other MN'S that live locally to me(Yeovil)
On the other threads that i'm on(ante-natal and post-natal) they're always talking about meet-ups but all live up north in Yorkshire etc so far too far for me to go.
Does anyone visit Jungle Jungle or Rugrats(soft play centres) in Yeovil ever? Maybe we could arrange a meet up.

fransmom · 30/08/2007 22:43

hi km hows you? ilive in wsm but don't as yet drie so have little chance of making it to somerset meet-ups but will meet-up on here instead!!!

luczluutoo · 31/08/2007 14:01

I'm nr Yeovil (Ilminster)My son's just about to start school next week...although I don't drive either(Yeah ,pants I know).Good to see there are MN'ers in Somerset,thought there wasn't any!

tortoise · 31/08/2007 16:15

Hi kiansmum. Summer hols going great here, I love them all being at home. I don't want them to go back next week.
I am often in Yeovil shopping! I come by train.10 min ride from me. I don't drive so never go to jumgle jumgle. We goto Junction 21 in Frome normally. Very close to the station so easy for me to get to with the DC.

I haven't been to any meet ups yet either but it would be nice to meet up with other mums. being a single Mum gets lonely at times!

fransmom · 02/09/2007 00:55

where be you tortoise? hope you ok x

hows everyone else keeping? fm x

kiansmum · 02/09/2007 23:12

Hi ladies,
Great to meet you all!!
Now i know you are here it'll be great to have regular chats. At the mo i'm on the post-natal thread and the ladies are lovely on there but seem to live close to each other so have regular face to face contact and know each other well so i feel abit left out.
MN is great for advice etc isn't it.

Luczluutoo, Ah, what will you do with yourself when LO starts school? Have you any other DC?

Tortoise, you'll have to give me a shout next time you're in Yeovil and we'll meet up in town. I just read your profile and you're a similar age to me(i'm 29) and you have 4 DC. My 4th DC is due in 4 weeks(aaahhh, scary thought!)

Any of you other ladies are welcome to join us.

tortoise · 03/09/2007 22:09

fransmom I am in Castle Cary.

kiansmum My email is [email protected] if you want to get in touch. I was in Yeovil Saturday with DD1 and DD2. We went to the park at nine springs to waste time before catching the train. poor DD1 fell off the swing and bruised her nose . lovely bruise ready for her 1t morning at school tomorrow.
