I live in York and would love to hear from any mums in the area.

Yes Heworth walkable but also has a few local shops. Holgate is the same (prob a bit nearer), walkable to cc but has local shops/docs/library etc in Acomb about 5 mins walk.

Personally i think tis great to be walkable to city centre but obviously as that's where i've chosen to live but the flipsides to being close to the city are on street parking and prob not a massive garden but i guess this depends on your budget + priorities.

Hi everyone, just got back from a few days away with my parents and am raring to organise this!

Hello to everyone else who has joined the thread.

Now then, first off, I have been thinking in terms of a weekday/daytime meet, but if more people would rather do weekend/evening, please say so.
I am also assuming most of us will be bringing at least one baby/small child, so somewhere that children can play would be good.
For this reason I was thinking of the Spurriergate Centre (converted church in the city centre where you can get cheap drinks and food and there is a children's play area). However someone else mentioned a pub and I must say this idea rather appeals, esp. if anyone can suggest a good one.
(Or we could totally rethink and do a meet-in-the-evening-and-get-a-bit-pissed sort of a meet-up if this is what people fancy.)

In terms of dates, would the week after next (some time between 21st-28th April) suit?

Over to you ladies!!!

thehairybabysmum · 11/04/2007 14:19

hello kathy hope you had a nice time away.

that week should be ok with me...evenings in the week are difficult though as my DH works away so im home alone in the week...not really good form to pop out to the pub leaving ds in his cot, i try not to do it on a regular basis

cant get pissed either as currently pg again...still, happy to come along and keep an eye on the rest of you!!

PinkiePie · 15/04/2007 21:50

Hi girls, I'm in Leeds, but would love to pop over to York to meet you!

Mon and Tues are best for me (I work wed-fri).

fryalot · 15/04/2007 21:54

Thursday daytimes are out, but any other time is ok for me.

Happy to bring the little ones during the day, or come in the evening and have a drink (although it would have to be a soft drink due to rather long drive home again!)

feb · 18/04/2007 14:18

Hello, this is my first Mumsnet post!
I live in Goole, and would be happy to have a trip to York.

fryalot · 18/04/2007 14:21

whoo, hello feb

welcome to mumsnet.

feb · 18/04/2007 14:32

thanks squonk, i've been loitering on mumsnet since my son was born 11 weeks ago!
i haven't lived in goole long and don't know any other mums round here so it would be lovely to get out of the house and have a conversation!

fryalot · 18/04/2007 15:23

I know exactly what you mean!

Have we signed you up for the Hull Mile for Maude yet?

If you're in Goole, you'll be close enough

feb · 18/04/2007 21:28

I must confess I'd never heard of Mile for Maude before, but I've just googled it. Sounds like a very worthy cause, i will try to make it.

fryalot · 18/04/2007 21:28

Any progress been made on a meet up?

KathyMCMLXXII · 23/04/2007 16:46

Hi all, sorry I've not been on MN for a while.... I'd forgotten we were going to Wales last week

I'm going to start a new thread on this to grab attention. No-one has objected violently to the Spurriergate Centre and I'm going to suggest another date - Tue 8th May, 11am.

Mummydude0 · 25/05/2007 20:31

Hi there,

I am new to Mumsnet and found it by searching other mums in York. I have moved back home from manchester (13 years) to york and now have a 3 year old and don't know anyone here.

I saw this thread, I know its from April but was wondering if you guys met up and if there were any plans to meet up again?

Vicki

fryalot · 25/05/2007 20:38

hi,

yes, we met up, and had a lovely cup of tea (well, I did, I don't know what the others drank) and I for one would love to do it again.

Coincidentally, I am from Manchester and now live over here so it would be nice to reminisce about the old home-town.

Welcome to mn

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/05/2007 20:39

Hi Mummydude.
Welcome to Mumsnet/back to York.

3 of us met up a couple of weeks ago and would generally like to do it again but haven't done anything about it yet!

There's also someone who posted about a general Yorkshire meet but that would be over in the south/west of the county I think.

Best thing is probably to keep looking out for threads and keep them bumped (ie post on them so they stay at the top of the list of threads) when they appear.

Hope to see you around!

McDreamy · 25/05/2007 20:40

aaawww I envy you guys in York! I used to live in Linton on Ouse and really loved York! Esp Betty's!! [

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/05/2007 20:40

Oh hi Squonk - x-posts!

I had coffee I think!

fryalot · 25/05/2007 20:40

fwiw, mcdreamy, I envy where you live too

McDreamy · 25/05/2007 20:41

we could have a mumsnet met up here - that would be great!!!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/05/2007 20:41

Hey McDreamy.
Maybe we should meet up in Bettys - would get a lot of takers but our toddlers would probably wreck the joint.
It's probably disapproving-old-lady-heaven.

fryalot · 25/05/2007 20:41

hi kathy - was just reading this thread, and the poor girl probably thinks there are a lot more of us than there actually are, as there have been a few name changes (mainly by me )

McDreamy · 25/05/2007 20:42

Good point Kathy

fryalot · 25/05/2007 20:42

McD - let me know when and I'll book a ticket

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/05/2007 20:43

Yes, funny how all those York-based MNers have 'squonk' somewhere in their names, isn't it?

McDreamy · 25/05/2007 20:43

anytime you want!
