Anyone in Swindon(ish) area feel like a new friend? I'm 34 with a 3 yr old son. Haven't lived here for long & am finding it difficult to make new friends

OP posts:

hi there - i am in devizes - but would be happy to meet in swindon

mummy2mia · 09/03/2007 11:58

I'm in Swindon (North Orbital Shopping area), Mummy to Mia aged two... I've been in Swindon just under a year and not really made friends in the area yet either!

mufti · 09/03/2007 12:29

i have lived here just over a year , from swindon originally, it is hard isn't it, i don't think it's just me!
i don't drive, so could only really meet in town centre as i come in on bus

otti78 · 09/03/2007 16:07

Hello I live in Swindon and have 2 girls - 18 months and 6 weeks so it would be nice to get out and meet up! I haven't any mummy friends as we've recently moved back here.

alicerose · 23/03/2007 14:47

Another Swindon mom (youngest daughter is two and a half)looking for mom's to hang out with. I am a working mom but can arrange time off. Must warn you that I am in the category of an older mom. But it would mean the world to me to have someone to discuss (and learn from) how to deal with the terrible twos. I suspect I have a pretty good kid. But as I am a bit isolated I'm not quite sure what is normal at this age.

a quick aside to OTTI78 : your profile says you are a full time mom without kids. that is not right, is it?

SAHMof1 · 02/04/2007 21:52

I?m in Highworth, and willing to meet up!

mufti · 03/04/2007 08:39

i too am an "oldie" alicerose!
i'm not sure what is normal at any age really

mufti · 05/05/2007 22:05

bump

bigwombat · 17/10/2007 21:46

Hi - I'm in Swindon too, have only been here a year and would also like to meet other Mums - my dds are 8 and 6. Are any of you still around?

mufti · 18/10/2007 19:34

hi there, just seen this, its been on my threads im watching for a while.
i dont drive and am in devizes, 20 miles away, sometimes come in on the bus

bigwombat · 18/10/2007 20:37

Hi mufti, glad you got a reply after watching for so long! How old are your dcs?

mufti · 19/10/2007 07:15

one ds , he is 15m.
i grew up in swindon, do you like it there?

bigwombat · 20/10/2007 19:14

Yes I am liking it, my dcs like their schools and there seems to be so much investment in Swindon just now. How is Devizes?

chonky · 20/10/2007 19:32

bigwombat - do I know you ? If so, hopep you're well. We're thinking of selling up still and heading your way. Hope I haven't got the wrong MNetter

bigwombat · 20/10/2007 23:03

Hi chonky, yes I am who you think! (keep name-changing!) Hope all is going well - are you really thinking of moving? SN school here seems good - email me if you would like any info (JW at your school has my email addy). Think one of dd2's old classmates may also be thinking of coming this way...

mufti · 21/10/2007 08:04

hi again bigwombat.
i really like it here, i do miss some of the big shops, but i get in every couple of weeks.
devizes is a nice little market town, not too small, but quite friendly.

kitcoffey · 21/10/2007 08:58

Hello got room for a big one? I live nr the Orbital too, moved up just over a year ago from Surrey, don't really know anyone as yet and heavily preggers, due any second in fact with 4th sprog but first pregnancy. It would be nice to get to know some folk if anyone is not too terrified to encounter the unruley hoards!

mufti · 21/10/2007 09:02

im guessing the other 3 are adopted kitcoffey?

are they looking forward to the baby?

kitcoffey · 21/10/2007 15:34

Yes they are actually, I say that as they are boys and whilst fab make me chuckle as they don't generally notice much, but did decide when I was 5 months gone that perhaps I needed to consider a diet as my tum was getting big but they didn't know what exercise girls could do!

They want a girl poor deluded fools, I don't know what LO is going to be though!

mufti · 21/10/2007 17:15

good for you , are they siblings?, (if you dont mind me asking), long story , but i adopted, he lives in swindon with ex h
now i have a birth ds, and he is very pleased and loves him lots

kitcoffey · 21/10/2007 23:41

Yes they are, the first two I adopted together then had a letter to day 3rd had arrived this was a couple of years later. Funnily enough I adopted with ex H he has since moved abroad and this is new partner off spring!

mufti · 22/10/2007 08:04

oh that is a coincidence.
i thought i must be unique in my situation, i know a lot of adoptions fail.
im sure they will love to help you , all the best for the birth, when are you due?

kitcoffey · 22/10/2007 12:18

Today actually, very niggly and achey with hideous Braxtons for the last 2 weeks but no idea when I will pop!

Yes ex keeps in close contact with chaps, we reached end of our road though so decided to call it quits. Boys took it OK ish. They are excited though about new arrival!

How old is your lad?

mufti · 22/10/2007 13:11

the adopted one, he is 11, just started secondary school.
i didnt have braxtons, no idea whether that means its really imminent or not.
going into great western?

kitcoffey · 22/10/2007 16:13

Pretend contractions apparently, squeeze but don't getany worse.

Yes Great Western, it seems ok, not a big fan of hospitals though!
