I'm due in the next three weeks and would love to meet up with other soon to be mums or new Mums in the area. If there are already established groups, I really like to hear about those too.

hello Bounce1 I have a 6 month old daughter and live in Marylebone so can give you some advice on what's in the area! Are you having your baby at St Mary's?? I met some lovely girls at the ante natal classes there and still see them all the time. There is a really good baby massage course (free of charge) run by the midwives there which i did when dd was about 2 months old. I also know of a post-natal support group in Bayswater. Plus there are a couple of drop-in mother and baby groups in local church halls eg one on Hyde Pk Crescent which I haven't been to but have heard about. Whereabouts are you in Marylebone????

Hi Sar123, I'm having the baby at the John and Lizzie but haven't met any mums through the hospital yet. The ante natal course there was run over a week end which didn't really give the opportunity to get to know anyone properly. Do you know if the baby massage at St Mary's is open to anyone or just those who've delivered there? I live on Glentworth St, at the north end of Marylebone near the park. Are you finding the area baby friendly?

It is lovely but the cake shops on the high street are proving totally unavoidable during this pregnancy...

hi - where do you reckon best cakes are on the high st? am going through a real cake fetish at the mo even tho meant to be on new year health kick!!! the midwife who ran the course said that although really it was for babies born there they would welcome anyone as long as you ring to book. I will find the phone number for you. I have found it really baby friendly round here. I'm Paddington/Edgware Rd end of Marylebone Road so do lots of things in Hyde Park, REgents Park, Bayswater, Maida Vale, Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove etc. And I've loved being able to walk in to the west end just to wander round and use the feeding/changing facilities in all teh big stores!!!! The Electric Cinema on Portobello Rd does baby friendly cinema screenings on Monday at 3pm which was fantastic when my dd was much smaller i would really recommend it if you can get there. i was lucky with the ante natal classes in meeting lovely people both at my hospital and at nct. Have you met anyone at ante natal classes other than the hospital????

For cakes, without question it's the Valerie. I'm especially fond of the mille feuille, with custard rather than cream. They also do a great coffee eclair. I guess part of the problem with not meeting other mums-to-be is that I haven't really looked at options out of the hospital up to now. Once the little one is actually here I guess it will be easier, as I'll then be able to participate in some of the group's you mentioned. The Electric sounds fantastic, I had no idea they ran a baby friendly screening. Thanks for your suggestions - they're really appreciated.

If you would like some more info on a couple of things I could recommend in the area please email me dublo7 at mac dot com. Don't want to give away too much here and potentially reveal my identity!!! And next time I am in Valeries and see a heavily pregnant woman asking for a mille feuille with custard not cream I will say hello!!!!!!
