as im going there for a week at my SIL's with my daughter who will be 2.4yrs old and my SD who is 8 in March.

The whole idea that my Dp was supposed to have a week off but his shitty arse boss changed his mind and said No (as dp is taking over his self employed bosses business in April and his boss doesnt want to pay his holidays - how crap is that!!!!!)

Anyway my SIL live 10 walking mins away from the Lincoln Catherdral and my SIL will be at work from 1pm till late at night so i will be on my own all week and pining away for my Dp

I just wanted a friend or friends to show me around lincoln as i havent got a CLUE about lincoln...Also ive got a car so i can travel to meet up

PPLLLLLLZZZZZZZ anyone?

email me friday before you come.... themoon66 at yahoo dot co dot uk

We can decide what to do for the afternoon, depending on the weather.

Tuesdays I have to pick DS up from extra maths and his school is 40 mins from Lincoln. Wednesdays I'm mostly free from finishing work at 2.30pm and letting DS get himself home on school bus with his latch-key.

I have a very good friend who works in the Lincoln Tourism dept of the council... she will know what times the castle tours kick off and best places to take a small DD etc. Is there anything particular you would like to see?

Biglips · 27/01/2007 09:04

last time i went to the Catherdral - we couldnt get in the part where the da vinci code was filmed..

(my sil met Tom Hanks as he was staying at her hotel where she used to work )

My DD was living in flat right by the cathedral when they were filming De Vinci and she got a kiss of 'Gandolf' !!! She said hi to Audrey Tatau as well.

I know a lovely farm for the LOs... as long as the weather is ok... i will check they are open this time of year for you...

themoon66 · 27/01/2007 23:45

Your SiL must work at either The Lincoln (used to be known as The Eastgate) or the White Hart?

Biglips · 28/01/2007 22:09

i think it was at the Lincoln hotel...there is a autograph in the hotel too off Tom Hanks as he doesnt usually do autographs but cos the staff didnt tell anyone that he and his family were there at the hotel, tom H was very pleased and signed an autograph for the hotel.

hiya its not the lincoln hotel but the Washingborough Hall Hotel - he didnt stay overnight but spent an evening there as had dinner and played cards. He also signed the visitors book along with his family

Washy Hall is mega posh.... but its not in Lincoln. Its about 5 miles south. They've left a lot of the set inside the cathedral, so you can have a look around. It's quite interesting. Must admit I was not impressed with the film when it came out, though I enjoyed the book.
