Hello,

I'm 29 years old, married and expecting my first child late July/Aug (first scan due in a week and should clarify!) I'm looking for women in the same situation to swap experiences during pregnancy and to meet for coffee/lunch/ gossip whilst on maternity leave.

I live next to Alexandra Palace, and can easily get to Muswell Hill, Crouch End and Wood Green. Hope there are some other newbies out there!

not quite a newbie (my dd is now nearly2)or living in london. have you thought of posting similar thread on the ante-natal convo's? you might be more likely to get a reaction there as well as meeting some new online friends. i joined the april '05 thread and it's till going.

hope your scan goes well. have they told you what to expect there? x

Hi Fransmom and ScottishMummy

Thanks for responding to my first ever post! Good advice re. the ante-natal posting I shall try that next.

Re. scan, all I know is that I have to drink loads of water which in itself is daunting as I have a tiny bladder and am sure to desperately need to go to the loo just before I am called. But other than that, I know nothing - so any advice/experience welcome.

Scottish mummy, I may well bump into you around Ally Pally! I got married there in June 05, and live next to the entrance where the deer park is, so I often drag my husband up and round for a bracing Sunday walk.

Thanks for both being lovely - and wish me luck for my scan, a week today.

x

allypallychick, good luck for your scan a week 2moro x

all they will do when you are there is to check that you and baby are growing as you should be. they will do various checks and measurements on the baby, look at his/her internal bits make sure they are deeloping properly, and make sure how many babies there are, etc, etc. the reason why you need to drink so much water beforehand is because it enables them to get a clearer picture and therefore to everything that they need to a lot better than on a half empty bladder.

do you have to pay for your pics where your scan will be? i had to pay a £1 each so don't forget to take some money and some tissues for when you see your baby.

hope you get on ok, let us know how you went x

Thanks very much fransmom that is good advice. I am sure they will charge for the scans so will be sure to bring money along. Never would have known to do that.

So will they be able to see the baby bits even at 12 weeks? I thought it is only the size of a pea or something now....

i don't know that one sorry - where i am, we can only have an early scan if medically required otherwise we have to wait until 20weeks.

you got me thinking now! someone else might be able to help you with that one...

7days and counting.........

Hello,

I'm 37 and my first baby is due in mid August. I am from Crouch End. I haven't had a scan yet ( having on on the 15th), but I heard the heart beat yesterday at my first antenatal appt. I hope this message doesn't reach the forum twice, as I tried to post it yesterday and something went wrong, Where and when do you meet - I'd love to join you!

From Pen
