Peterborough meetup?

I will be in Peterborough next week - hurrah!

So is anyone up for a meetup? I will be arriving mid to late afternoon on Friday 4th June and staying until Sunday mid afternoon. So Friday or Saturday evening without kiddies, or Saturday afternoon with. Anyone else around?

Croak, how is the exam preparation going? Good luck.

well, I'm bound to be dressed entirely inappropriately - I'll be packing my bags on Thursday night, so whatever the weather then is certain to be totally different to Saturday night.

I'm having fun thinking of ways that we can recognise each other. None of us have babies small enough to give us the special baby-sick-on-shoulder badge of honour any more (well, ds still gives me nice little banana smudges). Will keep on thinking.

Ds2's yoghurty handprints down my clothes might make me recognisable but it's probably not something to be relied on.

Piffleoffagus · 02/06/2004 14:49

right you lot, I'm moving to Lincs in August, as an ex peterborian (old fletton and gunthorpe not in that order) I demand a place in any meetup afte that!!!
Enjoy the pub, I spent many an afternoon outside the F+H shandy in hand... aaahh

Croak · 02/06/2004 16:55

Coppertop - I'll probably be sporting some sneaky yoghurt smears as well, unless I manage an unusually successful sponge off before leaving the house.
Piffleofagus - BEER FESTIVAL

helenmc · 02/06/2004 18:31

this is probably a really dumb question - but how do I know its you guys??? or do I look for the table where every-one is drinking orange juice ???

fisil · 02/06/2004 18:36

This is where the yoghurt smearing comments are coming from, helen!

I suppose we could say what we'll be wearing. Or we could say where in the F&H we'll be. Or we coul just go up to random strangers and ask them. Or we could rely on the fact that any other mum is too knackered to go out on a Saturday night and so we'll stand out amongst the old couples and young people!

BEER FESTIVAL magic words, right next door to my old work hee hee
I shall.... be there.....

fisil · 04/06/2004 10:16

Right, I'm off to P'boro now. I will be wearing a deep red T-shirt with either black trousers, blue skirt or beige linen pants - can't possibly wear anything else cos that's what's in my case. Croak can recognise me cos I look like my Mum. Aaaghh! We will recognise Croak as she'll be very hung over.

I will be at the F&H at 7:45 with a large G&T!

May be able to grab a few minutes on my brother's pc between now and then - depends how nicely I ask - but don't worry if I go silent between now and then.

Really excited - see you all tomorrow!

I hope you Peterborough lot have a day time meet up sometime. I'm about 30-40 mins away, so a day time meet would be great. Have fun tomorrow!

Jaybee · 04/06/2004 10:38

Where are you then Caribbeanqueen? - I wish I was going but not possible. Born and dragged up in P'boro. I have spent many a lunchtime and evening in the F&H. I used to work in Westwood. A daytime meet would probably suit me too - especially a Saturday during the football season. Helenmc - mine are 10 and 7 too. Hope you have a great time.

Caribbeanqueen · 04/06/2004 10:57

I'm in Cambridge, but haven't heard of any others mnetters in this area.

coppertop · 04/06/2004 17:51

I'll be at the F&H at 7.45pm wearing black trousers, a peach-coloured blouse, and probably some nice bags under my eyes (depending on how ds1 & 2 sleep tonight ). See you there!

Nome · 04/06/2004 18:04

I'm in Cambridge too. I think there's a couple of us. It would be nice to met some new people, but I can't make it over to Peterborough tomorrow. Maybe in cambridge sometime?

helenmc · 04/06/2004 21:42

I'm going to be in khaki trousers (if they dry by then), if not then denim skirt and white long sleeved t-shirt.

Croak · 05/06/2004 00:18

OMG fisil, I'm already hungover (green smily needed) so I'm really hoping it will have passed by tomorrow. My eye bags will certainly give yours a run for their money though coppertop. Not sure whatI'll be wearing, its far too big a decision to be made in my current condition. Depends on how hot it is but I'm very unimaginative so it'll probably include jeans (and yoghurt). I'll definately be short with brown hair in a ponytail though.
See you all at 7.45 - I'm very nervous and excited and looking forward to meeting you all

helenmc · 05/06/2004 09:55

I know exactly what you mean Croak -I feel like a teenage going on a blind date. I've got mousey shortish hair (not quite shoulder length). I was thinking of my chat up line = 'are you here for the parents committee meeting' or stand by the bar and hope some-one asks me!

coppertop · 05/06/2004 10:45

Yes it does feel like a blind date doesn't it? Forgot to add that you shouldn't take the name "coppertop" too literally. My hair's darkened over the years and is now a reddy-brown colour - just in case you were looking out for someone with bright ginger hair! A ponytail here too, I think.

fisil · 05/06/2004 18:39

looking forward to seeing you all. Ds is asleep, I am showered and dressed (red top, blue skirt) and my hair is blond all over except for the roots (forgot to make an appointment over half term ...)

so excited - just like a blind date!

Morning, everyone!
It was good meeting you all.

helenmc · 06/06/2004 11:00

Coppertop- were you're dds still up when you got home???
my gilrs are just playing with the smileys. They want to play on the pc, but I got here first.
Yes, a good evening by all accounts. Forgot I didn't have lights on my bike, so a bit scary riding home.
What you you lot up to today - the sun is out.

coppertop · 06/06/2004 11:08

Ds2 was still wide awake and apparently ds1 had finally fallen asleep 10-15mins before I got home! At least I got a bit of a lie-in though. They didn't wake up until 8am. Bliss!

Haven't made any plans for today yet. The little terrors are out playing in the garden.

fisil · 06/06/2004 18:26

good day - but busy (but managed a blissful sleep this pm!). Good to meet you all!

OP posts:
Jaybee · 07/06/2004 14:17

Sounds like a good evening was had by all - ds and his football team went and won their football tournament yesterday so I'm glad I stayed over here in sunny Northants.
Maybe next time!!

Croak · 07/06/2004 14:55

First chance I've managed to get on the computer -I keep falling asleep wth ds and housework is piling up as well Just wanted to say how lovely it was to meet you all on Saturday
Think me and your dds must be on the same wavelength with trying out the new smileys helen - must try to remember that less is more
congratulations to your ds btw jaybee
thats quite enough.....
