Hi freedomfighter - whereabouts are you? There are a few of us in Harrogate, myself, Bettythebuilder, notsogummyanymore, fullmoonfiend, northerner and others. There are also some ladies in Northallerton (we had a mini meet up yesterday - only 3 of us but it was fun!).

We are a friendly lot (I think!) so tell us more about where you are and will try to help out with suggestions for groups etc.

Saturn74 · 22/11/2006 18:52

Hi harrogatemum - how are you?

harrogatemum · 22/11/2006 19:41

Hi HC - I'm fine - still waiting for baby to be born!!! Due Friday, got a funny pain in my groin tonight, but feels more like a pulled muscle than the onset of labour! Looking forward to joining all you guys in the bar for a proper beverage once the bambino decides to put in an appearance!! How are you doing?

Saturn74 · 22/11/2006 19:43

Fine thanks!
Was wondering how you're getting on.
Good luck - looking forward to reading your birth announcement thread.
Your first drink is on me!

harrogatemum · 22/11/2006 19:56

FF - there are baby and toddler groups all over Harrogate - I think there is one at St Marks CHurch which if you are in Leeds Road area would probably be your closest. Most of them are linked to churches so it depends if you are very against a bit of religion thrown in - I went to one at Christchurch on the Stray when my DTs were young but found it a bit much as it involved part of the time in the church itself.

I went to a baby massage class when the DTs were small at St Roberts Community Hall just near Waitrose which was good for meeting other mums and also there are things like Tumble Tots which I think if you search of on the internet will have a Harrogate class. All of this is probably once your baby is about 6 months of course.

Can also recommend good baby friendly cafes and good days out etc - CAT me if you want more info!! of course you can always wait until the baby is born of course!

freedomfighter · 22/11/2006 22:02

Thnx for all your info..am new to this site so wht does DTS and CAT stand for? am on maternity leave at mo and its quite weird and lonely not being at work so was just trying to think ahead...

Hi FF - DTs stands for Dear Twins, you will see people posting DS for dear son, DD for dear daughter, DH for dear husband etc etc, its just part of the jargon on here! CAT means contact another talker - you can do it through the headings at the top of the talk page - it means that Mumsnet sends an email on your behalf to someone else so you dont have to talk online on the forum if you dont want to.

Have you just finished work? I stopped at 35 weeks, I had planned to go on longer but have had a bit of a nightmare pregnancy this time round and been in hospital a couple of times already so decided to stop in mid to late Oct. Now I sort of wish I hadnt as I am due tomorrow and have had 5 weeks off already so my 90% full pay is about to come to an end and the baby is nowhere in sight! Still, you cant plan for these things can you!

Have you got everything ready for your baby? I am very disorganised with this one, I guess because its my second pregnancy/third baby, whereas I was totally sorted well before the event with the twins!

freedomfighter · 23/11/2006 22:37

thanks again for all your info on abbreviations like CAT etc, really helpful!! i know what you mean about using up the 90% pay, i'll have done that just by the time the baby is due..i stopped just over a week ago using annual leave then maternity leave...but i wanted to get my head sorted and have time to chill and sort things out...ive got most stuff for the baby now, think its probably more usual to get stuff sorted for a first baby...am so tired tonight its unreal... ..cant believe youve twins, how did/do you cope with twins?

Sorry to crash in

Hi HG was wondering how you were getting on. Do you remember me from AN threads back in March/ April?

harrogatemum · 24/11/2006 09:38

Hi Cece - of course i remember you, how are you doing? Did you move house? I am due today so hopefully you should see a birth announcement in the next fortnight!

FF - I think its easier to cope with twins if they are your first, I mean, I did not know what having one was like so I just got on with it, I reckon it would be harder if you had them second after having a single baby, would be a bit of a shock to the system. More to the point, how am I going to manage with 3??? The twins have only just turned 2 so still go in the buggy........it doesnt bear thinking about at this stage! Anyway if you see a heavily pregnant woman with twins wandering about the town, you know its me!

cece · 24/11/2006 19:04

HGM - looking forward to seeing an announcement soon. Yes we did moved and have been in here for 7 months We are at the redecorating hell stage...
