Hi All

I'm proposing a visit to the theatre for under twos in January.

The event is Baby Balloon

The shows that I can "do" are:

Tuesday 2nd January afternoon
Saturday 6th January afternoon

Tickets are ?15 per adult and child with extra adults at ?10. It's a 45 minute show and it's advised to book early.

I've got a couple of "interesteds" already so post here if you're keen.

I'm looking to book up soon.........

Wetland Centre's official blurb on eXplore: "This beautifully landscaped adventure area, within the 105 acre centre, will encourage children?s imagination to run riot. They can become water voles, scurrying through a maze of oversized burrows and chambers, climb a boulder wall, race ducks down a river and fly like a bird to cross water. For the even more adventurous there will be a misty dell and rain cloud where children can dodge the rain ? or get wet!"

There's a network of tunnels, a bouncy dragonfly, some bouncy insect eggs, a balance beam and wobbly bridge across a 'river', a rope swing, a death slide, a water channel for racing ducks down, a bit full of water mist, an area with big showers for getting wet in, and probably some other things I'm forgetting at the moment. DS loved it.

The rest of the Wetland Centre is pretty child-friendly too. DS also had to be torn away from a bit in the "All about Wetlands" (or whatever it's called) exhibit where he got to shoot poo (coloured balls) into a reed bed to demonstrate how the reeds filter water. Admittedly at 20 months I think he was just enjoying shooting coloured balls, rather than learning profound amounts about the environment.

Oh poo, wrong thread.

Umm... Anyone interested in Baby Balloon may also be interested in the Wetland Centre? [hopeful emoticon]

[slinks off in embarassment...]

okay tix are aplenty at the mo.

no booking fee so it'll be £15 per 1 adult and child.

if an additional adult comes it is £10 however, they get an observer ticket and will be expected to stay towards the back.

the space is a studio and the objective is to have as many kids as poss therefore 2 adults with 1 child in the "performance" area isn't allowed!

hope this makes sense.

maybe if MrsB brings her two your DH could "borrow" one LOL!

Is Quokka keen? Can anyone contact her at all.

I will not ask for paypal payment till I have booked the tickets which i think i should do by mid-next week if not earlier.

;-)

I trust you all not to do a runner owing me 15 squids LOL.

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 01/11/2006 15:51

Posting so this comes up on my recent list...

I'll check with DH again this evening whether he wants to come as an observer (do these organisers not know that it takes multiple people to wrangle DS...? )

MrsBonfire · 01/11/2006 15:59

if I bring both kids dh is probably going to come with me. No way am I braving any kind of transport with both kids, but if somebody is desperate to borrow child I am sure dh is more than happy not to attend... kids birthday parties and the like seem to always fall to me, strange that LOL

btw who was up for the Cbeebies xmas thingy?

Fiz,

It sounds like dd's too young for this so we're going to opt out of this one.

parkinpud · 01/11/2006 16:25

I'll try again! I think you've already got me & ds down as a definite Fizzbang!

MrsBonfire · 01/11/2006 16:31

parkinpud what did you put for them to delete your message?!?

parkinpud · 01/11/2006 18:57

I put in names

MrsBonfire · 04/11/2006 20:57

I still haven't been able to pin dh down whether he's coming or not... won't badger him tonight though, he's kindly taken dd out into the cold to watch fireworks displays whilst I stayed home in a nicely heated flat with ds

Paddlechick666 · 06/11/2006 15:35

any progress mrsb?

MrsBigD · 06/11/2006 16:11

does 'argh' answer your question? dh doesn't get home till 20:00 atm due to being on a course and then we've got our hands full with getting the kids to bed etc... you get the pic... I shall now stick a note on the fridge to ask him! Drastic or what??? btw the note is for him not me

MrsBojangles · 07/11/2006 10:35

Had a think and it would have to be Saturday 6th with dh doing something with dd as then aged 5 she'll be a bit too old for baby balloon

Paddlechick666 · 07/11/2006 21:20

okay, i haven't checked availability for the saturday but i can do that if everyone else is okay do the saturday.

otherwise it's the Tuesday.

speak to me people.

Hang on a sec, I'm confused! Is the Saturday baby balloon as well or is that just the Tuesday? Ds will be a bit too young for the big balloon - I can do either day but it would have to be the baby balloon, otherwise I'll give it a miss.

Does that make sense or have I just made it more confusing?

MrsBojangles · 08/11/2006 09:43

both dates are for baby balloon as far as I know

lemonaid · 08/11/2006 09:53

Can't do the Saturday, I'm afraid, just the Tuesday.

I think will just be me and DS, no DH on an observer ticket.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 08/11/2006 10:10

Hi

Is anyone doing the Big Balloon?

MrsBojangles · 08/11/2006 10:21

big balloon runs till 30/12 big balloon

am sure dd would love it. would be a busy month for her though... 22nd bday party, 23 cbeebies ... I wish I had her social life LOL

harktheheraldfoxessing · 08/11/2006 12:02

22nd birthday party???

How old are you then?

MrsBojangles · 08/11/2006 12:37

it's dd's 5th birthday on 22nd December... then again I probably should take that as a compliment for looking well preserved LOL

harktheheraldfoxessing · 08/11/2006 12:41
Wink
Paddlechick666 · 08/11/2006 13:48

Pud, both days are for Baby Balloon.

You Big Balloon-ers Buzz Off onto your Own Thread!!

I'm going to make an executive decision that we will stick with the Tuesday.

Sorry MrsB, but Lemonaid had already confirmed (not to mention ridden my butt to get this organised) so don't feel fair to change the day unless everyone can make it.

I expect both shows will come around again tho - the guy on the ticket desk seemed to imply they were at the lyric quite often.

As for MrsB's DD being 22, she looks ever so young for her age!

MrsBojangles · 08/11/2006 14:12
