Just wanted to see how many other Kiwi mums there were out there. I know there are a few of us!

My name is Jen, I am 25 and have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and we live in Epsom in the South west. I have lived all over NZ- Palmerston North, Nelson (Motueka), Hamilton, Auckland and Wellington!

Hi themaskedposter. Where are you from in NZ and how long have you been here??

Thanks for the post Jennnz, brings back some wonderful memories

themaskedposter · 06/11/2006 13:57

kaybe7777 - Tauranga (well I was born in Rotorua)
Been over here for 10 years now ... originally came to do the OE and kind of got stuck - all my NZ mates have gone home ... tis only me now!

Oh no I lie - a friend from University (Canterbury) is still over here!

Good on you for moving back to NZ - we are planning to do that eventually (dh is english)and will definately be back by the time dd needs secondary education!

Hi there

Loved the article Jennnz I must be a Kiwi legend cos i remember all of that
Shar(34)here, originally from Otaki(Kapiti Coast) boarding school in Wanganui and then last 2 years secondary school in Napier while living in Hastings.
Been in UK since 94 first in North London now Watford.Got together with a "pomme" (much to the disgust of my father ) have 2.5 year old ds and 12 year old dss.

Kaybee7777 · 06/11/2006 15:23

maskedposter - i came for a 2 year OE and got 'stuck' here too, it seems to happen to quite a few of us! I only have 1 kiwi friend left here, and she has just got back after going home for 2 years only to decide she wanted to come back!
Am really looking foward to going back to NZ but do have times when I think i could just carry on living here....... Guess we can always come back again!

Hi shar Whereabouts is Watford?

NYcicles · 07/12/2006 01:56

Sorry, I only just saw this thread! I am a Kiwi from Wellington (Karori and Ngaio), spent 5 1/2 years in St Albans, now in New York since mid-July. I have two dss (2.8 years and 11 months). I am 29. I went to Karori West, Wellington Girls' and Vic.

digimum · 11/12/2006 21:54

I am desperate to find a helpful kiwi with a trademe account. I've seen something I want to buy my little boy for xmas but as I'm in the UK I cannot access trademe so I cant let this seller know I want to do business with him/her If there are any kiwis with a trademe account who would be willing to contact this seller on my behalf I'm not asking anyone to bid for me just set up the initial contact then please let me know. I'm getting a bit desperate and I cant find this prezzie anywhere else! Thanks in advance!!

KaybeeandZak · 15/12/2006 18:04

Hi NYCicles, looks like we are from around the same areas, though I went to St Teresa's, St Mary's and Vic. How do you enjoy living in NY?

Sorry digimum, can't help with the trademe thing

kiwikid · 17/12/2006 22:30

Hi Jennz. Not sure if you remember me. I'm the one who lives quite near you in tadworth... feeling very crap 'cos I said i'd love to try and meet up then haven't as I've gone back to work (boo hoo)!! Now it's sch hols and i'm free and back to my MN addiction! I'm 20 minutes late for the night feed!! Would genuinely like to try and get together for a coffee.(Although my lille monkey has just developed chicken pox... don't really want to share that extra special xmas treat around!!)
Ohh I so miss Wellington, though was brought up in Tauranga. But going home in March to take our DS to meet the kiwi contingent. Anyway must go... baby to feed!! Love and Warm, Sunny NZ Xmas Hugs xxx

NYcicles · 18/12/2006 18:04

Hi KaybeeandZak! (new name?)

NY is pretty good. We live outside the city, as we did when in England, so we have the best of home life and city life/ commute for DH. We don't like the US so much that we would want to stay here though. We should be back in the UK in a couple of years - in the meantime we are enjoying travelling around and seeing some of the US! Unfortunately, as it is only a couple of years, we won't be going to NZ in that time

KaybeeandZak · 19/12/2006 11:16

Yes new name, I was pregnant before and now my DS has made an appearance!!

What a shame you won't be back in NZ for ages.. .. Do you think you will ever go back to live, or will you be staying in the UK?

Hope you have a lovely Christmas

NYcicles · 20/12/2006 17:01

Congratulations on your new ds! Is he your first?

I think we will probably end up in the UK as my dh lives for travel and languages (European ones mostly), and I enjoy the easy travel to Europe and the shopping, value of the pound, etc! NZ would just be too isolating for dh! Will you be going back?

Incidentally, Watford is just North of London in Herts (near St Albans where we lived)(You asked nzshar) . It has good shopping!

NYcicles · 20/12/2006 17:03

Apologies for asking questions you have already answered - I've just looked back over the thread

NYcicles · 20/12/2006 17:10

Just saw that you have bought a house in Ngaio. My parents live in Ngaio, as did I from the age of 9 until I went flatting at 21! My sister lives in Paparangi (Johnsonville) and is having her first baby in mid-Feb. to be missing it. I don't know when we'll get back next - maybe in 2009, though ds1 will probably be in his first year at school in the UK, so it would have to be in school holidays. Our ds2 is 1 in a couple of weeks and he hasn't been back yet. My Dad and sister haven't even met him.

KaybeeandZak · 22/12/2006 20:47

Wow 2009 seems so far away. You can probably see from my earlier posts, I can't wait to go back!! Luckily DH, who is english, is keen too. In saying that there are things I will miss about here, but I guess we will always come back to visit the inlaws etc...

Jennnz · 07/01/2007 21:47

Hi kiwikid!
Sorry to take so long replying- as you can imagine we have been pretty busy over the holidays. Not sure if you are still off work but let me know if you would like to meet up still
We are off to NZ in March too! We booked our tickets a few weeks ago- so excited, although am dreading the flight. I am going by myself with DD and by then I will be 27 weeks pregnant! Mad I know.
Hope you all had a good (if somewhat colder!) Chrissy and New Years!
