Which end of the Thames are you meeting up at? I live right by the finishing line, but I suspect the rest of you are in West London.

Uwila · 09/09/2006 13:47

Where is the finish line? Dumb foreigner here, so be nice to me and my ignorance! Yes, we are mostly in West London/Middlesex/Surrey.

MrsBigD · 09/09/2006 14:28

DH was suggesting along the back of Kew Gardens, that way we can catch the 65 to Kew Bridge and 'hike' towards Richmond

The finish line is at Greenwich, they take the boats out at Poplar rowing club which is very close to me. I hope you all enjoy it.

I've done this race 3 or 4 times and will VERY much enjoy watching.

early warning that I will, at some point, jump up and scream encouragement/abuse to the crews I know.

oh dear, I have just checked the GRR race details.

it seems it's an early tide so the race actually starts at 9:30am altho it's a handicap race so it takes over an hour for everyone to start.

doh!

we could do an elevenses picnic - how early is it acceptable to start drinking?

YanksUponThames · 09/09/2006 18:22

Well, personally, I've not got any problem with a spot of something at elevenses....
(though a decent breakfast first is generally a good idea, for me anyway)

So, yeah, where should we gather? There's a good bit of Old Deer Park coastline along the river between Kew & Richmond town. Closer to Kew Bridge, I guess, would be easier for most folks to get to, and slightly less Early-in-the-race and all that.

YanksUponThames · 09/09/2006 18:29

And yes, I'm a dumb foreigner here, too, along with Uwila. Is this race the Oxbridge thing, or am I mixing it up with something else? I suppose I could be bothered to look it up or something...

foxinsocks · 09/09/2006 18:31

I will possibly watch it (depending on the weather) but will prob be nearer the Ham stretch at the start

singersgirl · 09/09/2006 18:54

So what time will they pass the White Hart in Barnes? Where is the start? I shall Google!

singersgirl · 09/09/2006 18:56

OK, so have found the answer to my own question - between 10.30 and 11.00.

MrsBigD · 09/09/2006 19:00

just so everybody knows what it is

Sorry to be ignorant but will you be watching from the side or on the passenger boat?

2Cute · 09/09/2006 21:00

Just to answer my own question, from the side I see (just read Yanks last post).

Uwila · 11/09/2006 20:40

i might have to discuss his a Friday dinner, and decide jus how tired I will be on Saturday morning. It looks like good fun, though. It's going to be a long week. I'm off to Milan tomorrow, back Thursday evening, work on Friday, out with you guys on Friday, then can I peel myself and my kids, dress everyone and get to the race..... at what time?

I think we need specifics. Time? place? ect.? And let me just add that I am not likely to get anywere with the kids before say 11:00.

Uwila · 11/09/2006 20:41

Oh Lord, I can't even spell "etc."...

xoxoxo · 12/09/2006 08:34

Uwila: I want your job
Or at least your airmiles

Uwila · 12/09/2006 09:19

It's yours for the taking! Good luck.

xoxoxo · 12/09/2006 18:43

fantastic: I can do the following:
coffee tasting
cake tasting
wine tasting
chocolate tasting
exercise scorning

....am I qualified? Should I dust off power suit and passport?

bunyanvillas · 12/09/2006 19:50

Evening All! I would love to join up at the River Race on Sat - and on Fri night! - but keep forgetting I have this flipping operation on Friday morning! It's only a wee one but as it's a general anaesthetic I don't know how I will be feeling on Sat so will have to wait and see! Naturally would much rather be quaffing a fine wine with everyone and enjoying all the chat - so will definitely be there in spirit and count me in for the next one Am certainly looking forward to meeting everyone eventually!

bunyanvillas · 12/09/2006 19:51

PS xoxoxo when is the coffee tasting / cake tasting / wine tasting / chocolate tasting /
exercise scorning as I can clear everything (as I have SUCH a hectic social life .. not) for all of those!!

Uwila · 13/09/2006 16:20

Oxo, I have colleagues who can prove that you can get the job with fewer qualifications than you have listed!

However, I'm quite enjoying my child free husband free trip to Italy where I have enjoyed much pizza and wine... yum.

xoxoxo · 13/09/2006 17:00

Hey Uwila: I checked your job on the stats thread. There is NO mention of chocolate, No mention of cake and absolutely No mention of wine.
There IS talk of oil and IT - none of which are nice dunked in coffee. What kind of job do you call that?

Not for me, lady. You can keep your job.

I'll just have your airmiles, please

Paddlechick666 · 13/09/2006 21:56

i'm guessing we'll sort out the finer details on Friday night.

would be great if you can make it BMT. are you okay for help/childcare etc after the op? CAT me if you need anything.

as per times etc, my crews go off at 10:30am and will be thru Richmond by 11am so I "intend" to get there in time to see them go by..........

of course, I am going out with you lot on Friday night so..............
