Would anyone be interested in a meetup in a more central area other than London? If so I am happy to organise it

nutcracker · 16/08/2006 14:46

On the same date or different ?

gigwig · 16/08/2006 14:47

yes, i'd go to a more central one. just takes too much time/too expensive to get to london from manchester -means a whole weekend out really.

MadameButterfly · 16/08/2006 15:41

I think it would be good to go for a different date that way, you could go to both if you wish.

Birmingham is in the middle of the country so how about there?

nailpolish · 16/08/2006 15:42

LOL @ you lot thinking manchester and birmingham is the middle of the country

MadameButterfly · 16/08/2006 15:45

Sorry Nailpolish, should have said: in the middle of England.

If we are talking the middle of Britain, probably somewhere like Newcastle is more central for those coming from Scotland.

nailpolish · 16/08/2006 15:47

im only teasing

Quootiepie · 16/08/2006 15:49

is Britain a country then?

MadameButterfly · 16/08/2006 15:50

No prob,

I am origainally from scotland, and this used to be my worst bug bear.

I now live in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham and have done so for almost 20 years, so I think I am beginning get used to it.

NotActuallyAMum · 16/08/2006 15:56

I'm interested

LunarSea · 16/08/2006 16:05

Yep! (Long time no talk jampots!)

Xavielli · 19/08/2006 21:03

I would love to come to a Christmas meet-up! London is too much expense at the moment... I am pretty central... near oxford... so Brum would be good.

WedgiesMum · 22/08/2006 19:07

Just so you know the official centre of England is a small village in Derbyshire called Morton (at least according to the village sign, that and it being the site of Britains only inland oilwell). The pub there is the Corner Pin and I'm sure if you called them you could get them to do a finger buffet and karaoke quite cheaply (just don't mention my name that's all I can say)

LunarSea · 23/08/2006 19:05

Anyone in Meriden might dispute that - there's a monument there supposedly marking the centre of England. But according to the BBC it's not there either ! Actually there are a couple of places in Meriden which would be ok - the Bull, or Strawberry Bank which both have rooms as well for anyone travelling far, and not far from lots of motorways (M1/M6/M42, etc).

Ronniebaby · 24/08/2006 21:50

I'd come to one, that would please Madamebutterfly too as she'd have a lift

Lunarsea - how you doing, good to see you.

Yeh Jampots long time, but hey, life goes on eh!!

MB - lift as usual unless we taxi & I stop at your big.

Wedgiesmum - how the devil are you, hows the squidles.

MadameButterfly · 24/08/2006 22:09

Depending on where it is, a taxi sounds goods, that way you could have a drink too.
