Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

Just curious...

I've lurked around this board for ages and am really curious to know that if you all meet up and your anonimity disappears, does that affect how you post on Mumsnet? Or do the benefits of new friends outway this? I'd be horrified if I met someone I know, as I've divulged things I wouldn't tell friends on here.

Here you go, JJ.

I got it off mumsnet (and have been sent to it from another MB) but it wasn't the very first link I don't think.

HC, sorry about your bad day

Janh · 07/02/2004 21:07

Seem to recall the first one was posted by alibubbles (??) and the top score was only 300-ish. Then someone else posted this one and top score doubled.

JJ · 07/02/2004 21:11

Ahh, see what you mean. just got it to 566.9. By skipping.

Hoxtonchick, really sorry to see it. Hope it gets better later.

JJ · 07/02/2004 21:24

Actually, my husband forwarded it to me, although I know it spread otherwise, but I got a verifiably low score here . I loooved making him skip.

Janh · 07/02/2004 21:32

That link doesn't work, JJ !

lilibet's helicopter one does though - working on that now!

SenoraPostrophe · 07/02/2004 21:33

Smack the Pingu is fantastic. I got 539. Is that good for a first go?

Back to the original topic though: no I don't feel any different. Though I am more inclined to reply to posts by mumsnetters I have met (if only because I am less likely to be taken the wrong way I think).

Janh - agree it'd be slightly different if someone I knew posted here (but maybe they do. If someone does know me it's bleeding obvious who i am anyway). But only in the same way that it's be odd if anyone I knew suddenly got access to the complete history of a relationship with another friend. Do you see what I mean?

What do you mean by " nearly all lovely.." anyway?

JJ · 07/02/2004 22:11

Yep, my link died. It was a good link, too. There are others that skip, but .. sigh...

Janh · 07/02/2004 22:14

Aw, lucy darling, are you feeling paranoid? Sorry! Just mean there is one person I've met who isn't lovely...I wonder if you can guess who that is? (not you, obviously!)

Janh · 07/02/2004 22:14

and 539 is excellent for a 1st go!

hoxtonchick · 07/02/2004 22:43

thanks jan & jj. i was even tempted to start a thread about my crap day - huge, shouting down the phone fight with my grandmother, weeping down the phone to my parents (all of whom are coming for lunch tomorrow), dp had horrid food poisoning which kept him in bed all afternoon & i've hardly seen ds all day as i've been sorting out this wretched lunch for tomorrow (which i've only just finished cooking). arrrgh. so yes, i was very pleased to wallop pingu! must try & beat your high scores now!

hoxtonchick · 07/02/2004 22:45

oh, & to answer the original question on this thread - i've met quite a few mumsnetters now, & think i'm more likely to reply to them as i can remember what they look like! have stopped recommending it to people though as i don't want to blow my anonymity (ie not very).

hoxtonchick · 07/02/2004 23:06

oh god, i've chased everyone away with my moaning... 593.5 my best so far....

GenT · 07/02/2004 23:34

491.6

Is there a meetup in this area Janh?

Janh · 08/02/2004 10:21

Hi, Gen - sorry, missed that last night. Our meetup tends to be the Manchester one but there are people in other parts of Lancs - Rhubarb is in Preston, oliveoil is in Oldham (sorry, oliveoil, Chadderton ), lilibet and turnupthebass are in Wigan and Hilary is near there too. Somebody newish from Bolton posted recently as well. So we could have a Lancs meet-up...

HC, 593.5 seems to be the toppest score (ds1 and friends have been doing it at school and that was the best any of them managed) so well done! Hope your Sunday goes better than your Saturday!
