New in Notting Hill

Hello.
This is my first attempt at this, not entirely sure what i'm doing but fingers crossed!
I have just moved to Notting Hill with my two little ones, a 2 and 1/2 year old boy and a 6 month old girl. I would love to hear from fellow mums in the area or mums who like to visit this neck of the woods.
We are great fans of the Diana memorial park in Kensington Gardens and also Holland park and would like to hear about more fabulous things to do around these parts.
Here's to new friends and an action packed Spring/Summer.

Missmuffet, I am still chuckling at the thought of you accosting people and saying "Seahorse"! In fact you're really going to have to do it as we are on the same flight! Your DH can look out for my DH but at only 6'4" he will feel short, which will make a change for him.
My DS throws himself to the floor when he meets new people or is embarrassed and says "woops I've fallen over". Silence seems quite sophisticated in comparison.
Are you packing a ton of baby milk, nappies and jars of food or are you shopping there? I can't decide what to take.
Novadandypowder you simply must try and get the same flight!

My son has woken-up three times now screaming the place down because the smoke alarm in his room keeps beeping. The first time i just put him back to bed. The second time i tried to get the battery out but couldn't get the cover off. The third time i took a table knife to the thing and instead of the cover coming of, the whole thing came off the ceiling leaving behind a big hole with wires hanging from it....oops! At least i was able to remove the offending artical from my son's room. I have taken the battery out now and would you believe the bloody thing is still beeping... how is that possible?
To make matters worse, there's a really loud scratching noise coming from the wall in the bathroom... it has to be a rat, we are in the basement flat after all. DH is working late... arghhhh! (If you don't hear from me again, it's because i've been eatten alive by rats!!!)

Taking nappies, milk powder, baby food etc. Italian is not my strong point.

Seahorse2 · 29/03/2006 21:40

I remember that happening to me once with a fire alarm that wouldn't stop beeping but I can't remember what it means. Helpful aren't I?

MissMuffet · 29/03/2006 21:52

I think it means... 'GET OUT OF HERE... FIRE, FIRE, FIRE'

Seahorse2 · 29/03/2006 21:55

OK, I must be really really stupid then. I wonder if my house burnt down and I forgot about it. Pregnancy has made me very forgetful. I set off somewhere to do something (like the other side of the room) and halfway there forget what it was. So it's possible my house burnt down and I forgot, but I doubt it.
I've got to go to bed, I'm waffling.

MissMuffet · 29/03/2006 22:07

what's that burning smell?... Oh well, see you tomorrow Seahorse.

So girls, shall we meet at Carluccio's, 10.30am on Tuesday 4th? Confirm or reschedule on the Monday evening/night. Novadandypowder... are you there?

ggglimpopo · 30/03/2006 12:41

This thread is making me homesick for London....much as I love France. Shopping, Kensington Gardens (used to live in Kensington) and Carluccios. Do they still do that amazing carpaccio? Sigh.

Have a lovely lunch!

MissMuffet · 30/03/2006 15:37

This really is becoming an international Mumsnet thread!
I'll try and make you feel a bit better ggglimpopo. The weather keeps pretending it's spring and then as soon as you venture outside the heavens open, no-one talks to each other and you have to do things like this if you want to stand a chance of making friends, everyone is cross and in a hurry but rush-hour traffic means they're getting no where fast.
Do you have a DD or DS ggglimpopo?
Have to finish packing and catch flight now. Will be back Monday.

Seahorse2 · 03/04/2006 20:12

I'll come along to Carluccio's tomorrow if anyone else is going. Hope you made it off the flight with all your luggage MissMuffet - they seemed to be shoving it everywhere! Sorry we didn't see you on arrival - my DH had to get to Heathrow for a flight at 8pm so we ran all the way home. We did chuckle when we saw you getting on the same return flight as us too.
Anyway it would be nice to meet up under less stressful circumstances and Treetrunks and Novadandypowder too!

MissMuffet · 03/04/2006 20:34

I'm back... Hi Treetrunks, of course you can join our little get together, just as long as you promise not to laugh at my pink cheeks and nose! Not sure what the plans are for tomorrow, i imagine seahorse is feeling much like me tonight, shattered! And we seem to have lost novadandypowder, temporarily i hope. Not much time left to organise something... this is all too exciting!

MissMuffet · 03/04/2006 20:40

novadandypowder · 03/04/2006 22:48

I'm around, thought you guys were off on hols for a couple of weeks for some bizarre reason???

Will try and pop by Carluccios, will see what mood DD is in.

beetlejuice73 · 03/04/2006 23:23

Hi Novadandypowder, sorry to intrude but went swimming at Ken Leisure Centre for the first time on saturday and the water was so cold that DD's lips turned blue and we had to leave. Do they keep the baby pool warmer or did I just get a bad day?

MissMuffet · 04/04/2006 12:49

Great meeting you and your DS treetrunks, and you and your DD once again seahorse. Will have to do it again when i get back from my travels.

londonmummy2005 · 04/05/2006 09:13

Hi ladies, sorry have only had a chance to read some of your thread, just wanted to say I live in Holland Park and my DS is about to turn 14 months, I go for walks in Holland Park and Ken Gardens most days, via the shops! As the weather is so fabulous thought we could set up a picnic club (or something)
off to the park now for a picnic with my mum need to get out of the house before DS drives me crazy! enjoy the weather!

MissMuffet · 08/05/2006 22:29

Loving the picnic club idea londonmummy2005, count me in.

OP posts:
Seahorse2 · 09/05/2006 10:10
