Ok, so we have a venue, a growing list of those coming and Dances making lists.

I'm not going to give the address of the venue on this thread, but will put it in the FB Meet up Group and PM those who are not on FB. If you are and are not already in the group, please click the link and ask to be added and we shall do just that - just as soon as you have confirmed that you are coming and have made a payment of £20 to the Meet Up PayPal account.

The £20 will cover food (12-14ish decent sized canapés), anywhere between 2-4 drinks and, most importantly, cake. Depending on final numbers we have yet to decide whether to have a stock of paid for drinks - wine, beer, soft drinks perhaps, followed by a pay bar; or to do tokens of a set value that can be used for any drinks, again paying once you have used your tokens up.

The venue is just south of the river, next to Tower Bridge; BIWI, Pistey and I selflessly went and checked it out last week and it is lovely, great position and with easy transport to all London main line stations. Tube wise it has Northern Line, Jubilee Line and Circle/District lines running very close by.

With regard to food, when you have paid (please PM me or Pistey for the PayPal details as, again, I don't want to publish it for the world to see), could you please let me know any dietary requirements - allergies/vegetarian etc so that I can finalise the menu accordingly a couple of weeks before the bash.

Accommodation - we are hoping to sort out a group rate at a Travelodge, so if you are in need of a bed for the night, please do let me know and we can add you on to our list.

I will C&P the list of who is coming after this post. If you are coming and are not on it, please add yourself.

I think that's everything..... Any other questions, just let me know and I will, hopefully, be able to answer them.

Yes, poor Brian recoiled as we yelled our disbelief. Like an accusation.

I loved how you and Dolly rocked up looking all glossy and glamourous. I felt like you had popped in to do a community service hour with me before you headed out to a club. I wanted to pat your hand and remind you take a coat as it would be cold later. You are a fab sort.

I marched Hully across Tower Bridge at an alarming rate and totally failed to throw her in. I was taking so many pain killers that it wasn't until I got into bed that I realised my feet were bloody stumps because my shoes were killing me.
I could have rolled out of bed and ended it all in front of the 6.15 to Billericay I suppose.

It was a grand night thought

OrangeandGoldMrsDeVere · 01/10/2012 14:23

I just made it home on the last tube. It was full of oiks. Luckily I had my kindle so could bury myself in the Duchess of Devonshire's memoirs.

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2012 14:34

Brian is 40 Shock I don't believe it! She looks about 20-something Envy

MrsDV, I can't believe you were able to read - I had drunk way too much for that!

FrankWippery · 01/10/2012 14:34

BrainSurgeon's 40? No sodding way is that true. If it is, then I must be at least 57. Which I am not.

Oiks, MrsDV? Oiks on the tube late on a Saturday night? Bloody hell, it wasn't like that in our yoof was it?!

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 01/10/2012 14:36

Mrs DeVe is like an urban warrior, taking on the tube with just the Duchess for protection.

FrankWippery · 01/10/2012 14:38

That she is Pag!

I got a cab home with the three that were staying at mine, quietly biting my tongue to help ignore my pain from a now diagnosed abscess. I have good drugs that are doing good drug things to me now, so all is good and very very floaty. And I like it. A lot;.

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 01/10/2012 14:39

Drugs are the way forward

You poor thing though. Didn't alcohol and cake help?

triplets · 01/10/2012 15:05

Hi and thank you to everyone for a fab night on Sat, soooo nice to meet you all, esp Portofino, Mumoverseas, Brainsurgeon and my lovely lovely Ruby. I have only just retd home as I had an extra night, back to reality! Well done to Frank and team for organizing everything :)

FrankWippery · 01/10/2012 15:32

I barely touched alcohol tbh Pag, was too high on codeine. Cake always helps as a rule, but not when one is suffering from a tooth abscess...

Thank you all, btw, for the beautiful flowers which look and smell absolutely divine.

lol at grib. Christ, where's chaos.

Pag the glamorous doings were achieved in ten minutes flat of hasty unpacked suitcases and stuff being flinged around the room. We couldn't find the hotel (it was a 5 minute walk but we went completely up the wrong street) and we were sick of dragging our suitcases like yokel waifs and strays so we shrieked LOOK when we saw an All Bar One and sat ourselves outside with wine. I think at about ten to 5 we shrieked again at the time and then started dashing about, asking roadmenders where the hotel was. We checked in, got dressed, put make up on in slapdash fashion and then ran. Grin

I cannot believe you walked across that damn bridge.

By the way yesterday morning wandering aimlessly through the city which was so empty it looked like the beginning of a film about viruses, the whole circle line was shut so had to traipse to Aldgate. Anyway I had my new boots on and tripped over nowt and ended up sprawled across the floor in comedy fashion, I thought the whole place was empty but heard someone from an upstairs window laughing evilly. bastards. MASSIVE great bruises on my legs and arms and dd accused me of getting in a fight. Hmm

I hope your poor tooth gets better Frank - bloody abscesses are the worst.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 01/10/2012 15:45

I love the Duchess of Devonshire's story of when she travelled from the Hebrides or whatever to London via train on the outbreak of war accompanied by a dog and a nanny goat. Smile

FrankWippery · 01/10/2012 15:46

Is it wrong that I am snorting elegantly at the image of your sprawled across the floor? No? Goodo Grin

OP posts:
GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 01/10/2012 15:48

No, it was a good image, I would have laughed anyway.

I fell over again in Macdonalds in the afternoon, just fell sideways, dropped my chips. Tragic on so many levels.

Lethal boots.

BrainSurgeon · 01/10/2012 15:54

Grin @ [grun] and [gurn]

Errrr... what's [grib] supposed to be then Getorf, not sure if I should take it as a compliment? Wink

Happy to link to a photo of my birth certificate if you don't believe my age I'm in denial about it myself

BrainSurgeon · 01/10/2012 15:59

You think it was funny.... I was actually a bit scared?!

I mean you finally meet people you were really looking forward to meet and they start yelling at you with accusatory looks?!

I thought I had recovered after the shock but it seems I'll never quite get over it

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 01/10/2012 16:01

I know - bless you you did back away somewhat with a scared look in your eye. Grin

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 01/10/2012 16:06

Afternoon all, I'd offer Wine but I'm still off it can't imagine why

BrainSurgeon · 01/10/2012 16:17

Hi Dances. I really like you. Smile

How's your head, still aching? Wink

BellaVita · 01/10/2012 16:23

GetOrf - I am sure you still looked bloody magnificent [grun]

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 01/10/2012 16:40

Grin
DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 01/10/2012 16:44

Excellent, so it wasn't me you were backing away from then!

I did wake up with a head ache still, my first 2 day hangover ever! I'm sure I didn't actually drink enough to deserve that. I'm getting old...

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 01/10/2012 17:01

Brainy I'm afraid I don't believe you're 40 either. You must now scan your birth certificate and post it on your profile and even then I won't believe it, you 20 year old

I had such a lovely time. I wish they had kept serving until 1am though. I also wish I had stayed and gone on to the next pub or whatever with some of you. Would have made my hangover worse but hey ho.

Reading through this thread now I can picture all of you - Marriredinwhite, Hully, Pag, Triplets, Porto, Dances/podd, GetOrf, Bella, Frank, Beachy, Pistey, Annie, MrsDV, Knotty, Tilly, BIWI, catinboots, RebeccaMN, Cointreau... all of you!!! You gorgeous things!!

JugglingWithPossibilities · 01/10/2012 17:09

It was lovely to meet you too HeartsTrumpDiamonds, and cupofteaplease, putri, triplets, annie (hope you like the book), dances (hope you've recovered from that hangover), shodan, justineMN, marriedinwhite, rubyrubyruby (was nice to get chatted up at bar hey ?) and the mysterious but lovely Fiona who looked after me beautifully when I first arrived. But gutted I missed some of you !
When's the next one ....

Pagwatch · 01/10/2012 17:19

Justine was there?
