Ok, so we have a venue, a growing list of those coming and Dances making lists.

I'm not going to give the address of the venue on this thread, but will put it in the FB Meet up Group and PM those who are not on FB. If you are and are not already in the group, please click the link and ask to be added and we shall do just that - just as soon as you have confirmed that you are coming and have made a payment of £20 to the Meet Up PayPal account.

The £20 will cover food (12-14ish decent sized canapés), anywhere between 2-4 drinks and, most importantly, cake. Depending on final numbers we have yet to decide whether to have a stock of paid for drinks - wine, beer, soft drinks perhaps, followed by a pay bar; or to do tokens of a set value that can be used for any drinks, again paying once you have used your tokens up.

The venue is just south of the river, next to Tower Bridge; BIWI, Pistey and I selflessly went and checked it out last week and it is lovely, great position and with easy transport to all London main line stations. Tube wise it has Northern Line, Jubilee Line and Circle/District lines running very close by.

With regard to food, when you have paid (please PM me or Pistey for the PayPal details as, again, I don't want to publish it for the world to see), could you please let me know any dietary requirements - allergies/vegetarian etc so that I can finalise the menu accordingly a couple of weeks before the bash.

Accommodation - we are hoping to sort out a group rate at a Travelodge, so if you are in need of a bed for the night, please do let me know and we can add you on to our list.

I will C&P the list of who is coming after this post. If you are coming and are not on it, please add yourself.

I think that's everything..... Any other questions, just let me know and I will, hopefully, be able to answer them.

Gosh Hully, fabulous picture.

I'm not surprised you don't get invited to the pampas parties, no-one else would get a look in!

Hullygully · 26/09/2012 17:20

quite

BellaVita · 26/09/2012 18:59

Where is this pic?

Hullygully · 26/09/2012 19:18

I don't want to talk about it any more Bella. I am wounded. Let us draw a veil. I should never have shared.

BellaVita · 26/09/2012 19:22

No you do need to tak about it - sharing helps Grin

Portofino · 26/09/2012 19:48

I haven't been to Barbados. I did see Trinny and her precocious PFB at Central Park zoo though.....

BellaVita · 26/09/2012 21:55

I haven't been to Barbados either. Have been to lots of other nice places though.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/09/2012 22:35

Can't remember if I've been to Barbados or not TBH. My parents when I was growing up (in Canada) spent all their spare money on trips and not "stuff" (e.g. we didn't have a TV, nice cars, expensive clothes or anything). Across Canada, most of the edges of the USA, lots of the Caribbean, lots of Europe, UK etc. We mostly stayed with family or friends or very nebulous connections that my dad met on the beach or something. In the 70's we went across Canada in a borrowed VW camper van which broke down when we were 3,000 miles from home.

I have recently come to the realisation that my parents were hippies Grin

marriedinwhite · 26/09/2012 22:40

I haven't been to Barbados either - hasn't it got 365 beaches - one for every day of the year? But I did once stand next to a familiar looking bloke at a hockey match and just before I engaged my mouth, offered my hand and was about to say, "I'm sure we've met somewhere before" my brain engaged and flashed up a Seb Coe alert Blush

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 26/09/2012 23:24

Hearts that sounds fantastic, I think I would have loved it, I was always desperate to travel.
But did you like it at the time?

I think it's Antigua that has a different beach for every day of the year.

NoKnownAllergies · 26/09/2012 23:33

My DD was conceived in Barbados. [Grin] We have a picture of DH and I on the beach there and whenever she sees it she says "I know, I know, I was just a tiny seed when that picture was taken." We are very embarrassing parents.

bigTillyMint · 27/09/2012 07:55

Barbados is a sore point in our house - DH went on a 2 week freebie there whilst I was left at home with DD who was just over 1 and pregnant with DSAngryEnvy
NoKnown, we have a picture like that taken in Amsterdam!

BIWI · 27/09/2012 08:06

We had a villa this year, hired from someone I 'know' from Twitter - and we were given a discount because of that. Booked the flights early, and overall it was a really good value holiday. It cost us the same as it had cost us for a fortnight in Kefalonia about 8 years ago.

I love it. It's a beautiful place.

bigTilly - I think I would have slaughtered DH if that had happened!

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 27/09/2012 09:03

I think you linked to a picture of that villa BIWI and depressed us all. Grin That is mad though that it was cheaper than Kefalonia. Grin

It is a really beautiful place, I would love to go back and take DD. I loved the barbados accent - sounds like american mixed with a bit of Bristol. Grin

BIWI · 27/09/2012 09:05

Sorry about the depression, GetOrf Grin

I have to say, it was a very expected bonus of being on Twitter!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 27/09/2012 12:35

Bewitched good question - did I like all that travel as a child? I didn't really know anything else... it did bug me a few times that my clothes were always bought at the discount store, or that I didn't have the cool new trainers, but don't all kids feel like that? I did like the travelling, we had so much fun and were always so well treated - spoiled really - by the hospitality and friendliness of the people we met along the way. I also have a few very good friends now, decades later, that I wouldn't have without those experiences.

As a grown-up, looking back, I value it enormously - I think travelling broadens your horizons and gives you such a good global view. I hope to impart that to my DDs too.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 27/09/2012 12:57

I've done a bit of hippy style travelling and met a few people who were doing it with children and babies. I always really admired them, and the children were fascinating.
Didn't have the bottle to do it myself!

Pagwatch · 27/09/2012 13:26

I am so lucky. We took DS2 to a fantastic hotel in Barbados for various and slightly complicated reasons.
It is now his fav place in the world and he asks to go there. Dh can't say no to DS2 . Completely impossible for him. Ds2 gets whatever he asks for (partly because he so rarely speaks)
It's fucking marvellous.

BIWI · 27/09/2012 15:12

oooh - look - we're stickied now!

FrankWippery · 27/09/2012 15:15

Just seen that! About bloody time too BIWI!

Cake in oven, will be icing later and will do my best to stop Bella, Porto and Blondes getting their sticky mitts on it.

OP posts:
BIWI · 27/09/2012 15:16

I was out with some MNetters last night who didn't know about the meet up - a sticky would have been a good idea! - and I have tried to persuade them to co me on Saturday.

FrankWippery · 27/09/2012 15:27

It had a sticky but only in the meet ups topic, I did ask....

Yep - had a PM from one who's coming now!

BIWI · 27/09/2012 15:27
