Ok, so we have a venue, a growing list of those coming and Dances making lists.

I'm not going to give the address of the venue on this thread, but will put it in the FB Meet up Group and PM those who are not on FB. If you are and are not already in the group, please click the link and ask to be added and we shall do just that - just as soon as you have confirmed that you are coming and have made a payment of £20 to the Meet Up PayPal account.

The £20 will cover food (12-14ish decent sized canapés), anywhere between 2-4 drinks and, most importantly, cake. Depending on final numbers we have yet to decide whether to have a stock of paid for drinks - wine, beer, soft drinks perhaps, followed by a pay bar; or to do tokens of a set value that can be used for any drinks, again paying once you have used your tokens up.

The venue is just south of the river, next to Tower Bridge; BIWI, Pistey and I selflessly went and checked it out last week and it is lovely, great position and with easy transport to all London main line stations. Tube wise it has Northern Line, Jubilee Line and Circle/District lines running very close by.

With regard to food, when you have paid (please PM me or Pistey for the PayPal details as, again, I don't want to publish it for the world to see), could you please let me know any dietary requirements - allergies/vegetarian etc so that I can finalise the menu accordingly a couple of weeks before the bash.

Accommodation - we are hoping to sort out a group rate at a Travelodge, so if you are in need of a bed for the night, please do let me know and we can add you on to our list.

Nobody lieks their name do they? I always think my life would have been markedly different if I was called Seraphina.

I was in A and E with DS1 at the weekend and some old granny was shouting 'Seraphina, Seraphina' across the waiting room. She kinda ruined the name for me.

I always wanted to be called Belinda (as in Carlisle)

Or Tiffany (as in I Think We're Alone Now)

I like my name.

You should change your name if you don't like it, I have quite a few friends who changed their names and it really did make a difference to them and how they perceived themselves and were seen by others...

I changed my name (not officially, just how I call myself). I like my name because I chose it and it is very much me. My mum was right narked!

I like my name. Hated it as a kid though.

Not keen on DS1's name now

If I had has my way as a teenager i would have called myself d'Arcy (with apostrophe) after the guitarist in the Smashing Pumpkins, so thank christ I hadn't heard of deed poll in those days.

That is really interesting re name changing, new slate and all that.

DD hates her name as well. I have no idea why, it is lovely. Perhaps I will suggest a swap.

I grew up with the shortened version of my name and hated it. It is the name of a fat, freckled child with pig tails
When i left home I just started using the long version.
And then I married Dh and took his lovely surname.

Now I have two lives
Fat freckled loser when I am with my mum and siblings
Married sensible woman with nicely turned ankles when at home

Tis weird. In RL I go by a slightly punky short version of my name and have done since the early 80s.

The only people on here that call me hullygully are those wot don't me, it always gives me a shock, like when I was little and my mum used my full rl name..
