Ladies, as suggested by Katz, let us re-attempt a grand south-meets-north meetup in honour of our babies' first birthdays. So as not to collide with anyone's baby's actual first birthday, I suggest the weekend of 22-23 July.

Thoughts: that's in the school holidays, presumably a good thing for those of us with school age kids.

Saturday or Sunday?

Location. Katz has suggested Hyde Park - sounds good if we northern Junies are going by train to the southern lands. Otherwise, there is a very nice country park near Luton/M1 which would be good for a driving meet-up?

found the site link \link{http://www.zsl.org/london-zoo/\here} they do have a central cafe and picnic area...but also saw costs...it's quite pricey, not sure what others think?? babes will be free, but if bringing dh/dp's and other lo's it could be an expensive day??? You will get a 10% discount if you book on line (although the family ticket includes the discount already), I'm still happy to do it but wanted to see what everyone thinks...

uwila · 07/03/2006 15:05

My DH would probably resort to suicide before he agreed to go to a mumsnet meetup. So it will be me, DD, and DS. It is a bit pricey, but DD will love it so I'm okay with the price.

However, if other peopple don't want to spend this much money there are cheaper options like BAttersea petting zoo. I've never been, but nanny has and she said it was ok.

katzg · 07/03/2006 15:50

i'm happy with the cost - but then i was going to traid my tesco vouchers for days out vouchers and it wouldn't have cost me anything!

uwila · 07/03/2006 15:52

Eh? What are days out vouchers?

katzg · 07/03/2006 15:55

you can change you clubcard vouchers for deals, hopefully this link explains it \link{http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=33&bci=4294967294|Days%20Out\london zoo vouchers}

uwila · 07/03/2006 16:04

Cool. Do you know if it matters whether you get online vouchers or vouchers in the mail?

teabelly · 07/03/2006 16:07

I'm trying to find that out too Uwila Smile, I think you may have to buy the tickets on the day to exchange your tokens?? can't seem to find anything on the website...

katzg · 07/03/2006 16:39

nope i don't think it matters, the lastest lot of vouchers can be used either online or by post

with the new vouchers they have an ecode on them which you can use and with the older ones you print off form and send it off to tesco.

i have only exchange tesco vouchers for magazines so far but it was very straight forward

katzg · 07/03/2006 16:42

i think what happens is you exchange your clubcard vouchers for days out vouchers and then on the day you hand these over instead of hard cash to get in.

tribpot · 07/03/2006 18:25

I will probably be avec dh as well, price is fine for me but happy to go for a cheaper option (Regents Park for a picnic?) if others prefer. Battersea would be quite a pain for us northern ladies to get to.

i've got my train tickets booked! now just need to buy my days out vouchers

tribpot · 21/06/2006 13:05

Bumping again - did we decide to meet somewhere for lunch before going to the zoo?

OP posts:
teabelly · 22/06/2006 23:01

Trib - I thought we were going to meet at the Zoo for lunch? At least that way we get our money's worth out of the entrance fee They've got a couple of restaurants and a picic area - had kind of thought maybe the picnic area if fair weather (can bring your own stuff then if you want, I presume) or obviously inside if inclament what does everyone think?

Just bumping as we approach the big day in the hope that lots and lots off Junies will come along

teabelly · 19/07/2006 14:29

Ok ladies, just googling to book on-line and found this 2for1 offer . It's suitable for anyone travelling by train, as you need to produce your valid train ticket too. There's no charge/payment to make you just have to register first, then return to the offers page, go to page 4 of the available offers and the London Zoo offer is the second one down, and click the 'claim your offer' button. Fill in the relevant details and then print the vouchers and produce it at the Zoo when you pay. It does mean that you don't get the 10 % on-line booking discount, but I think you'd prefer this

katzg · 19/07/2006 14:31

if anyone not coming by train would like to do the 2 for 1 offer, they can abuse my train ticket!

katzg · 19/07/2006 14:34

i think you have to do it before booking your tickets - but if you can do it afterwards then someone is welcome to use my train tickets

Uwila · 19/07/2006 14:35

Oh damn. I forgot all about this. Is it still on? Who's coming?
