Catbert's doing her bit for charity

St Lukes Church Hall
Grayshott, Hampshire

"Have a cup of coffee and make a difference"

(or tea, and homemade cake too!)

Thought it was worth doing. Any MNers in the area please come and say "Hi!"...

Thanks all...

SherlockLGJ · 27/09/2005 20:03

Stitch where are you ?/

stitch · 27/09/2005 20:05

sutton in surrey.

Catbert · 27/09/2005 20:12

Aaah - I provide the coffee, tea, homemade cakes, sparkling wit and hilarious anecdotes - and there's a suggested donation for each item consumed.

And no refunds if you find me as dull as ditchwater...

Here's a link to the Grayshott website. There's a multimap link for a map etc...

OK - now I think about it, the sparkling wit bit is how I always envisage me being when I host anything at all, but now I come to think about it - I usually end up a harrassed, stressed individual worrying whether everyone is OK...

Was going to suggest we went together, but we are quite far apart, I am in Farnham.

stitch · 27/09/2005 21:32

i think i might give this one a miss. have just realised how far away from me you are, and dont think i should attempt it during a school day.
hope it goes well for you.

Good luck Catbert - I'm having one in Greenwich and saw that you've had a bit of a do trying to recruit - so have I! Just thought I'd say hi and send good wishes for your event.

Catbert · 28/09/2005 17:37

Thanks Jen... Good luck to you too.

I'm torn between wanting LOADS of people to turn up (and be totally unprepared for it) and having just a few mates and it being a bit sad and sorry!

Ah well - I'll learn for next year's anyway...

Oh - and this bumps again, for anyone else...

good luck Catbert - I'm having one at home for the Mums at DS1's nursery. I have no idea how many will come so we may have loads of cake to eat up!

Well - I would have gone for a fixed pricelist, and then thought "But what if a bunch of OAPs pitch up? I can hardly expect them to fork out £1.50 per coffee..."

So, I have gone with a board marked with "Suggested Donations" underneath which will go the donations box. I will trust to people's ability to pay and morals.

I was going to swallow the cost of the teas coffees etc, so that all proceeds of the event go to the charity. However, after having had a friend book my hall for me, I was then called this week saying there's a fee for hiring the hall regardless of it being for charity. Grrr. This is a CHURCH hall too!

outrageous catbert.
I am offering my house for free but also will donate the coffees and cake. I thought I would just leave the collection box out and also maybe do the car raffle thing they sent me.
I'm also puttng a photo of my friend who was looked after by a Macmillan nurse before she died and a little explanation - to show people why I'm doing it. It's my first time as well - I've alwyas been reluctant before because of their association with Nescafe so I'm glad they've gone with the Co Op now - I used my money off coupons today to buy some filter coffee and the yummy fairtrade chocolate cake!
