So am I huggybear!
Looking forward to it though!

HuggyBear · 10/10/2005 17:08

am all worried that no ones gonna talk to me and im gonna end up stranded in london all night

have never been to london on my own!!!

am such a wimp

spidermama · 10/10/2005 17:15

Is there a seating plan?

I think we should all change seats for each course. That way, we get to talk to more people. Otherwise we'll missing out on meeting some of our idols.

How about it?

hocuspocusdiplodocus · 10/10/2005 17:40

I am scared stiff but at least will be able to have a drink or two for Dutch courage. When I went along two years ago, I was in the very very early stages of pregnancy with DS3 and couldn't drink (and felt quite queasy) and was very conscious that I was being very boring!

spidermama · 10/10/2005 18:08

I wondered about this hocusDinopoc.
It's a toss up.
Do I risk being red-faced and incoherent upon arrival due to lack of ability to pace one's need for courage of the Dutch variety.

Or arrive pert and sober, but so shy nobody notices I'm there?

Hmmmm. Tricky.

Tortington · 10/10/2005 18:18

chicagomum - all sorted with mumsnet towers - dont worry just turn up if you can

speed mumsnetting spidermama ?

OP posts:
FrightfullyPoshFloss · 10/10/2005 19:24

I'll try that Custy. I emailed them back pointing out that I only wanted a quote and not definately a cab, but strangely haven't had a response back since!

Have been tempted by the idea of hotels, but even thats going to be a bit too costly for me. Think I will just jump on the tube TBH. Money is very tight and nagging voice in back of mind is asking if I can really afford do do this at all. Unfortunately, I am very good at jumping up and down on this voice untill it stops, and there is no xmas do at work this year, so I feel it is justified!

Of course I reserve the right to get stinkingly drunk and have to be forceably removed from the premises and chucked in a cab in the general direction of Barking....

BaronessMarsLady · 10/10/2005 19:29

have finally remembered to send off the cheque.

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 10/10/2005 19:53

Can we pay mumsnet online? I am so crap, I haven't got a chq book here in London, have no idea where it is even, though it's prob at home in Bristol but if I could pay online, well, I couold do it now. I promise to stump up Custy.

blueteddy · 10/10/2005 20:13

At least you are brave enough to go along alone huggybear!
I have got my friend coming along to hold my hand!

Tortington · 11/10/2005 00:52

all sorted with musnet towers www. dont worry

OP posts:
anorak · 11/10/2005 08:29

having read some of the posts here I'd like to offer a bit of advice. You will be very lucky to be able to just hail a cab, they're like gold dust in central London between about 11pm and 4am on weekend nights.

Make your travel plans in advance. When I attended this meet-up two years ago I ended up stranded, had to find a (very crowded) night bus part of the way home and then get my husband out of bed at 3am to drive the rest of the way to collect me. I was very tired and footsore, not to mention quite stressed.

DH had a function the following Saturday and ended up doing exactly the same thing so he got his revenge! But that just reinforces how hard it is to find a cab at that time of night, so please don't leave it to chance.

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 11/10/2005 09:47

Anorak you haven't seen my drunk and disorderly! I used to have a really good success rate hailing cabs down in Bristol! But am now looking into night buses. Thanks for pointing that idea out!

novadandypowder · 11/10/2005 22:02

I've only just seen this thread - never usually come onto the meet ups section.

Is it too late to confirm???? Please??? It's on my calendar and everything

Tortington · 11/10/2005 23:35

nope not too late send you £5 cheque to mumsnet towers - see address below in the thread, if you have problems raising a cheque don't panic let me know

OP posts:
monkeytrousers · 12/10/2005 12:55

Okay, I'm really really sorry about this but I have to pull out. I hope I'm not letting anyone in the lurch. It's financial. Basically oneof our direct debits has gone up and as we weren't expecting it we have no contingency to pay it other than the money put aside for this. I'm really sorry again. I'll miss you all that night

Tortington · 12/10/2005 18:44

well thats a proper arse stain as i was looking right forward to meeting you and sharing spotty stories

OP posts:
babydriver · 12/10/2005 18:51

Oh crumbs, haven't had a chance to check this thread for a month!! Can I go back on the list please to come along - will send cheque asap.

babydriver · 12/10/2005 18:55

Forgot to add, huggybear, you won't be the only 'only' - I won't know anyone either. Am hoping MNers will be as welcoming in the flesh as online.

Tortington · 12/10/2005 19:02

sure you can - post your cheque

OP posts:
Tortington · 12/10/2005 19:26

undercovermum, i apoligise for not seeing your post, as you can appreciate there is a lot to read ( as you havent read down for the date or details) however if you look further down the thread i do indeed cite my fuckwittedness for forgetting to put people on the list.it was an oversite. everyone is still welcome - just send your cheque

OP posts:
monkeytrousers · 12/10/2005 23:00

Me too Custy If we have a sudden windfall I'll be down like a shot!

unicorn · 12/10/2005 23:05
