Right.

Next Friday 27th. Venue to be decided.

Predictably, my vote goes to the Royal Festival Hall as a) it's easy for us Essex gals to get to (Stratford to Waterloo on the Jubilee Line) and b) I'm meeting a friend at Waterloo in the morning anyway - will have both DCs with me so would like to minimise traipsing if poss. Not to mention c) I am boring and have no imagination whatsoever.

Just across the bridge (which has lifts both ends) is Victoria Embankment Gardens if the weather's nice, and not too big that the littlies can stray very far. It has a cafe too. Not been there for years but it is very nice as I remember.

Any other suggestions welcome of course.

Effie/Jam I will be getting the 9.29 from Kelvedon to Stratford.

So, who's in? Ooh, can't wait!

Effie I am going to drive to the wharf. Then get the jubilee from there.

EffiePerine · 26/08/2010 18:02

Ah, 1ish. Will get train into Stratford fir just after 12.

SummerLightning · 26/08/2010 18:02

Someone mentioned 1?? Is anyone likely to be there earlier as I think I may be able to get the 1045 train which will get me there at maybe 12ish?? I'd like to get train back before rush hour if poss so the earlier I get there the better

EffiePerine · 26/08/2010 18:41

Me too Summer do I may get an earlier train too :).

Nolda · 26/08/2010 19:23

Having a bit of a which train and feeding the dcs dilemma. Not sure if the RFH will have anything my fussy lovely dcs will eat and I'm sure they don't want us eating our own food in there so do I feed them on the train or get there earlier and find somewhere outside to picnic? I seem to recall that someone mentioned a park or there are benches on the river outside the RFH aren't there?

poisondwarf · 26/08/2010 20:00

Hiya Nolda - great that you're coming along. TBH I wouldn't think twice about bringing your own food and eating it inside the RFH - it's not as if we'll be in the cafe bit and the place is so big that the staff are not wandering past every 5 minutes or anything. I would probably bring sandwiches for the DCs myself if I wasn't going for lunch with my friend. Don't worry, I'm sure that between us the RFH's coffers will be brimming by the end of the day, but if you feel uncomfortable yes I'm sure there are benches outside or you could go over the river to the Embankment Gardens. I don't know if the weather's going to be all that great though.

I'm very unlikely to make it by 1 but I hope to get there in time for the stragglers at least.

Cool you are coming nolda! I also wouldn't have thought twice about bringing food for mr fussy if I was bringig him. I am going to aim for the 1045 train which should mean I will be there at a bit past 12. If no-one else is there I will just wait!

SummerLightning · 26/08/2010 20:16

Oh and poison why do you not want to tell your friend we are from mumsnet if you have already told her we met through the Internet? Am sure people will try and not say but just worried it might slip out - are you worried she might try and read your posts??
Personally i would just bring her and not worry about it. Maybe you could just drop in if you are worried it will be awkward.

waitinggirl · 26/08/2010 22:26

have a wonderful time, everyone - and please can someone remember to take a camera so we can see how these babies have grown, and how small and delicious the newbies are?

LadyThompson · 26/08/2010 22:34

I will try to come a bit early.

EffiePerine · 27/08/2010 07:11

On BFing, my mum tried and failed to bf me and my sister and my sister bfed her first for six weeks then stopped because it was too tiring. Reading between the lines I suspect they both had frequent feeders (like me) but no support or information. So I was expecting to find it all more difficult than I did. I really wanted to bf as both DH and I have allergies, plus I really didn't want to be faffing about with bottles.

EffiePerine · 27/08/2010 07:12

Whoops posted on the wrong thread! That'll teach me for MNing before coffee.

sybilfaulty · 27/08/2010 07:41

SO sorry ladies, but have been up with ill children or hacking away myself since 3am and am now shattered. They are bound to be tired and grumpy as well, so I would have to display my finest shouting skills. I can't face town with all 3, even with the promise of the lovely Veggie and Bisou in attendance from overseas.

Sorry to be rubbish but they have all got the virus now and it's knocked us all for six. Have a great time and take photos. XXXXX

JumpJockey · 27/08/2010 10:30

get well soon Sybs, hope you get some rest.

Meeting duly over, so will be heading for train fairly soon, see you in the ballroom bit I assume :)

EffiePerine · 27/08/2010 10:38

On the train - prob with the line but managed to get a seat. We have a sighing and fitting man opposite. Sigh.

Veggiemummy · 27/08/2010 11:56

Fitting? is he having a seizure??? dont put anything in his mouth EF! Grin

looking forward to this arvo will be a tiny bit late in order to have a well slept DS2. DS1 is grumpy with me as he wants to stay here with his mate, but this will prob be the only day he gets to see anywhere near central london on this trip and I know he will enjoy playing with the DEC08-siblings, esp Urbaneboy. He is happy that he will be meeting english speaking kids, bless him.

Sybs that is sad i was so looking forward to meeting you in person but I do understand...still sad though Sad

Lady I have given Bisou your phone number, i have given her vague directions but I think calling you when she gets there might be better.

EffiePerine · 27/08/2010 12:06
