Hi all, looking at going back to full time University in Scotland for nursing. I'm aware of the £10k bursary and reading there's around £4k dependents allowance however there's not much information regarding the rules for getting this. Has anyone had experience claiming and receiving this grant and can disclose the rules/ limits of household income etc?

There is information on https://www.saas.gov.uk/full-time/funding-paramedic-nursing-midwifery/additional-funding

"We’ll pay you a grant of up to £3,640 if any of the following conditions apply to you:

  • have a partner who has low income
  • are registered as a carer for an adult dependant (spouse, partner, or any other adult)
  • have a child who is dependent on you and lives with you at least 50% of the time
If you have more than one dependant, you may be eligible for £557 for each additional dependant. If the person you care for has an income of over £1,160 during your academic year, we'll deduct that amount from the grant we give you. Disability and other living cost benefits are not classed as income, but certain income assessed benefits might be."

Benefits that count as income are detailed here: https://www.saas.gov.uk/need-to-know/household-income-guide/benefits
