What shall I study?

I’m currently a SAHM. All of my children are now in school full time so I’m looking to do something for myself. One of my children has special needs so I need to be pretty flexible and can’t use any after school clubs etc so have to do everything within school hours which might be a bit limiting.

I did my undergraduate degree in History and have a first. I still have an interest in History/museums but I’ve acquired more interests since my university days. I started digital drawing during lockdown and love that, a dream would be to write/illustrate my own children’s books. I enjoy photography. I’m also fascinated by lots of the occupations that work with my son…Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists.

Why not take some short evening courses in writing, photography, art etc and see if any of them feel enjoyable enough to pursue more in depth.

You don't need a course for the creative things youve mentioned of course.

As for the other stuff, that's a lot more exam based of course. But, do you want to re-train?

I'd do the short term study first and see what you enjoy. Unless it's about earning a solid ongoing income, in which case speech therapy might be a smarter thing to go for.

@Emilyplays84 were you thinking of purely online study, or hoping to actually attend a face to face course?

Is this for enjoyment or to retrain for work or for one potentially leading to the other? Degree level (can you get/ do you need funding) or not necessarily?

I started my OU degree last year, part time. In my second year now studying psychology. Totally got the study bug😂

All my DC also in school too, two have additional needs. So I am a SAHM as well as OU student.
