AIBU to ask you all to help me think what I can do now?!
Recently made redundant. I have found a part time customer service role to tide me over but want to take the opportunity to think what I want to do. I've tried researching online but feel a bit overwhelmed.
I have 20 years of customer service experience and 10 years of team leader / lower management experience.
I have a couple of NVQs levels 2 and 3 (Hair, Beauty, Customer Service) from my teenage years (although never worked a day in the hair or beauty industry). I have 11 GCSEs grades A-C, 3 A Levels and a DipHE in English. The DipHE is out of time for me to be able to top it up to a full degree sadly.
I have about £5000 I could use to fund some qualifications, or could consider an apprentiship. I don't really want to do a degree as I would like to be trained up and ready to go in 6-18 months really.
Anybody been in a similar boat and what did you end up doing? I suppose I can just keep muddling through the way I always have but I feel like it'd be a waste not to make the most of this chance to reconsider the options.
I've been thinking of things like accountancy, HR, residential children's homes but nothing is really jumping out at me. I'm more of a work-to-live person than a real career orientated person but I am a quick learner, smart enough and do like the idea of finding something I enjoy rather than just tolerate.
