Hi, does anybody know where I can get reputable past / mock exams for the BCS BA course, I’m self studying for the international diploma but would like to do some mock exams too.

thanks

The British computer society offers some mocks, for instance for foundation https://www.bcs.org/media/8257/ba-foundation-specimen-answer.pdf

Thank you @coffeemonster28 why I couldn’t find that yesterday when I googled I don’t know but thank you

Thanks again. I’m with a company to self study so gave access to the video sessions of the course but primarily self study, I’ve got until the end of the year to complete it and pass for the international diploma but hoping I can get as much as possible done before I go back to work in June after Mat leave.

Hi @coffeemonster28 I’m close to my exam now and feel 80% confident, but just feel my brain won’t take any more information in! Just wondering where it’s multiple response does it say ‘select the TWO / Three that apply’ or just a ‘select all that apply’ Thanks

I took this a couple of years ago. It was "select all that apply," and wasn't necessarily more than one.

Good luck! I self studied all the exams, and found it helpful to print out the syllabus and make notes against that for my final exam prep.

User1213 · 08/03/2024 16:07

Thank you, I’ve gone through the syllabus and fairly confident, I know I’ve definitely covered it all but it’s whether I retain the information and to the BCS way!

OP posts:
MatureStudentToBeMaybe · 08/03/2024 18:11

"The BCS way" that sounds familiar. I definitely lost a few marks because my working experience didn't match the BCS official view. The pass mark allows for mistakes though, you don't need to be perfect.

Which exam are you taking?

User1213 · 08/03/2024 20:17

BCS Practitioner in BA.

Definitely and need to remember that and read the question properly but in quick time, 90 seconds per question doesn’t seem a lot at all.

Thought I’d come back on to say I’ve passed it, just had enough time to answer the questions and only 5 or so minutes for a quick recap of about half of them. Now to study for the other modules!

Well done!

Any helpful tips, please? I did the exam today and failed by 1 Mark :-(.

Are there any materials you have refered too?

User1213 · 24/06/2024 19:40

@Naga145 I found it helpful to print and go through the syllabus line by line of things I’m confident with, find your own little ways of remembering all the acronyms and don’t underestimate the time. I’ve now passed the modelling business requirements exam and that was the same, very similar to the mock exam really.

The only materials I used was the book, nothing extra

Hello, saw your post and I’m on Requirements engineering and struggling! How are you getting on? I failed my exam which has knocked me and really think it’s to do with time, needed to spend more time analysing the question and answer, I’m sure there is key words that I’m probably missing that spins the answer into the incorrect one, but with limited time I don’t think I’m picking up on that immediately so after some example exam papers too. Any support if you’ve been there is welcomed. Hope you are doing ok.

User1213 · 08/04/2025 10:34

Hi @Chr15t1n4

I’ve done all 4 exams now, just going to leave the oral one until after summer. I failed the org behaviour one so had to retake that one, I actually took the resit direct with BCS for £193 as the training academy wanted £400!

I don’t have any example papers but I found just learning some of the key words and then what it links to if that makes sense so one or two examples of when a persona would be used.

Have you gone via a training academy or self study?

@User1213 I am through a training company, how do you book through BCS, they are trying to charge me £280, but £400, that’s crazy! I wonder if I can just take my resits via BCS? How are you getting on?

User1213 · 16/07/2025 08:05

@Chr15t1n4 I still need to do the oral exam but I’m waiting until September when I can start to do some mroe studying around it and have some BA experience through work.

To book direct I just went to the BCS site and it took me to a link to set up Pearson account, sure it was £193. Allows cancellation / rescheduling too, depending where you live there’s quite a few centres anout. It was strange in that it’s an exam centre so very strict with no watches, a pat down and pocket turn out etc, some of the questions seemed slightly different but I passed so I’d just say make sure you’re confident before booking it.

which one is it you need to re do?
