Social Work Degree

Basically started Social work degree in September, I have now concluded I don' t really want to go back into the workplace - I spent a fair few years prior to this working for local authority, then a stint of self employment, so I know how cash strapped LA are and I am used to being my own boss. Ideally would like to continue with self employment, but maybe as a counsellor / therapist.
I don't want to waste the year of study, would anyone know
Is the first year of this degree transferable to anything else, or ideally the the first semester.
The likelihood of them letting me swtich to a counselling course at this point in the year ?
I know I should just speak to the uni, but feel slightly stupid for not knowing and starting a degree and changing my mind.

If you're barely 2 months into a course and want to change path, the best thing to do is speak to the university about your options now rather than plodding on for a whole year.

I am a social worker who is retraining as a psychotherapist, you can't transfer it but it's a good base qualification. However if you are 2 months into a degree I'd just swap!
