Hi I recently applied for the return to nursing course after being out of it for 10 years. I did learning disability nursing. Has anyone had the interview what’s it like. I’m really nervous after being out for so long

Also interested as I have mine coming up (adult general). Any top tips?

Also following, thinking about doing RtP but I’ve been out 13 years 🙈

I've delivered and taught on RtP programmes in the past. The first thing to know is that the university/NHS will want you more than you want them!

The interview will establish how you might manage the academic writing part. It's usually a reflective portfolio so wise to read up a bit on reflective practice. You could also have a look at the RtP section on the NMC. Other things worth brushing up on would be new student nurse standards (also on NMC site)

There will be some discussion on how you might manage the practice hours, how you can be a self starter in your practice learning ( ie how you can persuade anyone in an overwhelmed health service to give you meaningful learning opportunities) Whistleblowing and patient safety can be considered

Hope that helps - and good luck Flowers

Thank you so much for this damekindess. It’s a really helpful framework to get me started. I’ll let you all know how it goes.
