Im at a bit of a cross roads and im unsure which direction to take.

Currently self employed, but off work due to having treatment for cancer. Was due to start yoga teacher training, something I am extremely passionate about but have had to put that on hold for now.

I have always wanted to do a degree, but never thought I was clever enough, nor do I have the qualifications to do so, well I have access course that I did 13 years ago ( I'm 43), I've always wanted to do a health care degree, in particular, peads nursing. Now I've recently read about an apprenticeship to become a mammography associate ( obviously this is a subject close to home and one I'm very interested in ).

I'm thinking am I too old for all of this? Of course I'm thinking about this for after I have finished my treatment. I dont want to be just coasting along like I have been. I'm just not sure wich way to go.

Thanks for any help

You're definitely not too old! Still over 20yrs of work left...

If you decide to go for nursing, you may need more recent academic experience, typically within the last 5yrs, but will depend on the institution.

Apprenticeship to become a mammography associate sounds really interesting! Nice to be paid to learn as well.

Good luck, whatever you choose

‘Never thought you were clever enough’!? Have you seen the vast number of people who study for degrees nowadays?? Trust me - if you can navigate the MN site you have all the skills required for undergraduate study!

Of course you’re not too old. There may or may not be hurdles in getting on to any particular course, but assuming there’s no official age limit, it should be possible.

How far have you got with enquiring about the apprenticeship? And thinking about alternatives if it doesn’t turn out to be ideal?

I hope all your investigations will be bolstering while you’re going through your treatment.
