Does anyone have experience of doing distance learning GCSEs?

My role is becoming increasingly technical. I'm mid-40s, and luckily surrounded by technically minded people both at work at home but I think I would benefit from a better understanding of computing and computer science. I'm wondering if doing a distance learning/online GCSE in computer science might be a start. Has anyone done this or similar and offer any insights into good providers etc? Or thoughts in general. I'm not looking to become a programmer. I just want to better understand computing systems and architecture (I think!).

Not my area at all but I wonder if there aren’t better qualifications - more geared to work than school exams - that you might be able to study for as an adult.

The National Careers Service might be a useful place to look.

Thank you for the reply. I've been coming round to the same notion myself as I've been exploring more applied training possibilities. Think a range of possibly more focused learning/courses might be better. I've not actually tried the National Careers Service before so will have a look tomorrow. Thanks again : )
