Training in aesthetics

I'm considering training in aesthetics to be able to administer Botox, dermal fillers etc but am unsure how to go about researching the best courses/training providers. Does anyone have any experience of this and could offer any guidance or advice?

Ooh, thank you Vegan... I will take a look.Smile Did you feel that the course was enough for you to start practising? Or are you thinking of doing some more training? And did you do much private study yourself before you attended?

There are so many options available I just don't know which to choose! Have been looking at the level 7 diploma but I think at this stage it will be a bit much.

Have a look at Tim Pearce. He is (slightly annoying) but highly experienced and has a lot of online and face to face training courses available. Are you a medical professional? If you aren't you will be limited to fewer training companies as some won't train non- medics. Don't be tempted just because they work on Harley street!

The level 7 modules are the best most thorough courses but obviously much more expensive.

I trained in aesthetics a couple of years ago and to be honest I found it far too worrying. The risks of vascular occlusions are frightening and caused me too much stress and anxiety.

If you are keen to start in aesthetics then I would recommend a complications course alongside the basic training and try to find a clinic that would be happy to offer mentoring and further experience to gain confidence and technique.

Thank you for your reply kenadams86. I know what you mean about the stress/worry of complications, it's an aspect I know I would struggle with as well. That's why I am trying to really research decent places to train. As you say the level 7 courses are the gold standard but I think at this stage it would be a bit much for me to commit to as I might find the whole thing too stressful! I am a medical professional.

Thanks for the Dr Tim recommendation, I think he is a founder of SkinViva? I have subscribed to their podcasts so will give them a listen. He does seem to focus a lot on dealing with potential complications which I think is a good thing!

He does focus a lot on complications but I also think he probably focuses too much which then causes anxiety. However he is very experienced and his courses come highly recommended. I only did an initial 2 day Botox and filler course, then I went on and did the Tim pearce complications elearning and a couple of local mentor sessions with a local practitioner. Despite this and a really supportive prescriber I just never fully felt confident and the anxiety got the better of me (mainly with filler, I am fine with Botox)
All the best with it. There's a lot of money to be made in the field.
