Mature study and retraining
Day 1 of back to college

Just had my first evening class of my two year social services course at college and loved it! Forgot how totally lovely it is to get completely absorbed in a lecture and stationery and taking notes! (Easy to be positive on day 1... will be a different story the night before the first assignment's due!)
Good luck to anyone else starting at college or uni x

Sounds great! I agree there’s nothing like the rush of excitement of finding oneself in a lecture hall after a long time away from academic life.)
(But what exactly do you mean by ‘college’? What type of institution and what is the qualification you’re studying for?)

Well done and good luck!
tomorrow I start college, 1 yr course in art and design with all of the other school leavers - only I’m 42!!
bit scared to be one of the few mature students but know it will be worth it :)

Totally.
It's just a local further education college. I'm in Scotland so it's an HNC which is basically first year of uni level, think it's a level 4 in England?
I work in social care and we have qualification requirements to meet our social services registrations within a number of years of starting - can be by S/NVQs but this course covers me for my level and the couple above and I enjoy studying so just went for it.

Ah brilliant good luck to you too!
I didn't really have that experience as I'm on the part time evening course and you have to be working already in the area to it this way so it was actually mostly mature students, but I think the full time course is a total mix like yours.
Sure you will love it!
