How difficult did you find uni as a mature student?

I'm considering studying for a part time degree as I have no option but to continue working full time. I'm somewhat worried about how difficult it will be as I have been out of education for around 20 years. I don't find it easy to read, and I am worried generally about keeping up and trying to retain information etc as it does not get any easier with age. Thanks

Hats off to you. Well done!

i did an online masters in my early 30s (when i didn’t ve kids) and now halfway through another Masters at mid 40s. Now with 2 kids aged 10, 13 and a full time job, i am finding it more challenging to find the motivation to study. Also my capacity of absorbing new things is perhaps slightly less now.

I really struggled in school but I'm 28 now doing a psychology degree and I'm getting seconds and firsts on my work :)

It takes a bit of adjusting but I love it!

I didn't go to uni until my 30s, since then I have done multiple courses. It is addictive.

Currently I'm studying with the OU.

I'm currently studying with the OU and on year 2 of 6. I love it but it is hard work. I work full time and have 2 kids as well, hence why I am studying part time and not full time. I'm doing it for myself and not for work though, so look at it like a hobby.

6 years sounds a real marathon! I’m impressed with anyone who can stay motivated for so long on something that’s not your full time occupation.

I’m wondering how much time, if any, you get to spend in the company of your fellow students / tutors face to face?

I don't find it easy to read

Do you mean from a time or concentration point of view? Or due to difficulties with literacy? Obviously most degree courses involve a large amount of reading, so unpicking this is important. What course were you thinking of?
