IT skills qualification for mature students

Having worked in a retail/healthcare environment for the last 20years I am looking for a change of career.

I am looking for something that I could do from home but all the jobs I have looked at require Excel or similar IT skills.

Are there any courses that I can do to gain skills in this area to make myself attractive to a potential employer?

Look at ECDL (European computer driving licence I think?!)

I did it years ago - it might still be around?

There are loads of free online tutorials for MS products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint - the three main products you'd use in any office job.

There are countless free online courses but that does make it hard to choose.

I’ve taken one or two from CoursEra and I imagine they do IT skills.

Alternatively your local university probably runs IT courses, online or in person. There may be one you can join for a modest fee.

My other thought was whether your current (or previous?) employer offers any professional development classes you could take advantage of - if you haven’t already left them?
