Antenatal training

I have a course in mind with Antenatal Training UK but before I commit to that am looking for other recommendations.

I am looking to train as an antenatal and postnatal teacher, as well as a breastfeeding counsellor.

The course I'm looking at covers everything, including the level of study needed to be an IBCLC (lactation consultant).

There are plenty of courses that offer the different areas but I can only find this one that offers it all.

The NCT is now a university degree which I'm not paying to do!

Is this the NCT course you mean?

That seems to be a one year course - but eligible for student finance. So you wouldn’t essentially be paying for it. Not up front anyway. And not at all if you never reached the salary threshold for repayment.

But I know nothing at all about the other courses you mention. Hopefully someone else will.

Hi,

I was wondering if you managed to do this course ? I am interested in this course too and would love to hear some insight about it . X

I've just completed the breastfeeding peer support course - I initially chose this because you do not have to have fed for 6 months nor volunteer, but actually what i really liked about the course was the way they recognise this as a profession not just a supporter.

Ive also signed up to do the Advanced course as well, and im about 4 modules in. It's really challenging not just the depth of the course but the way it makes you think. Im not the most confident of people so wanted to know that i would feel prepared to teach after it. You do get teaching plans inside the course which is good but Lizzie and Ruth really get you to think about how you teach and what you teach rather than just telling you telling you what to do.

I also compared it to other courses and they just don't have half the stuff in it that other courses do, plus they build you a website and teaching kit and you get support with marketing and teaching etc even after you qualify. I do have the confidence that i can make money and have a career with this course, you hear so many teachers canceling classes.
Overall It's pricey but so far I think it's worth it.
