Are degree results published publicly?

Or just sent to the student?

Just that really!

Just to the student and the internal staff who are on the exam board but the latter can't do anything with it due to GDPR and may be asked to rerun any paper copies of exam board papers. The student will get written confirmation and a degree certificate but it's worth downloading a copy of the transcript also as many employers ask for that.

Thanks, Slalomsuki.

Just to add - the degree and classification - ie 2:1, 2:2 and the subject is published on the Graduation Day pamphlet and sometimes a copy of who passed and grade is in a newspaper.
When I graduated, everyone's results were in The Scotsman (if I remember correctly) - but there was not further detail than that.

I don’t actually know what happens now.

When I graduated in the 80s (Oxbridge) results were posted on a physical board on the wall of an important building. And reported in an interminable list in The Times.

(In addition to more personal notification.)

Does that not happen any more??? Grin

It seems hilariously archaic looking, back, doesn’t it? Everyone shuffling down to Schools and clawing their way to the front. I just looked it up, and it went on way after my time — only finally stopped in 2009!

Yes mine too. And in the Glasgow Herald. Not sure if they still do that.

I find myself still wanting to know why you asked the question, OP. And whether you have the answer you hoped for, or not.

My degree result was not published when I graduated a few months ago. My name was in the booklet we got on the day (but only those who said they were attending graduation)

They did say if you had a first or distinction (for post grads) or a prize as you walked across stage but only for those people. They didn't say 2.1 or 3rd for anyone else.
