Dropped out of an MA level PGCE, can I get loan for an MA now?

Many years ago I made an attempt at teaching by enrolling in and participating in an MA level PGCE, which I was forced to drop out of in the third term and this means I borrowed money from the student loan company for that entire year. I never got a qualification and ended up worse than when I started for employability. Now I want to go back to uni, do I even qualify for a loan for MA level? I’m so scared that I won’t, I have looked and I know it says PGCEs are exempt from being counted as a previous postgrad, but the one I did was supposed to be “worth more” and “different” to normal PGCEs, at least that’s how the IOE sold them in admissions. I’m afraid I’ll get to the point of starting an MA then a computer will say no. I know it sounds stupid, I’ve had friends who have dealt with similar financial illogical circumstances when going to uni.

I don’t know the answer but someone else might.

(Are you too scared to simply phone the Postgrad Loans people?)

PGCEs now all have Masters components (I think). There are other routes into teaching, but a PGCE qualification combines the award of Qualified Teacher Status with 60 credits of Masters level study. I think you'll be fine but you need to call Student Loans to know for sure.

I think you'll be fine. They always "sell" the PGCE on the basis that it is nearly an MA, but honestly, if you have to leave the course due to bullying, then that is better than staying and getting mentally and emotionally damaged.
