It's hard doing it on top of work, but I love the stimulation, the challenge, and the development. And I can't wait to get my student discount back Grin

Just wanted to say that really. I have all the info from the uni to get set up online and I'm so looking forward to it.

Sounds exciting!

What’s your subject?

How does it follow on from previous experience?

How long is the apprenticeship and what does it lead to?

Policyschmolicy · 26/12/2021 08:34

Me too! @stalkersaga I’m starting a level 7 apprenticeship in January. I don’t yet have my login details etc yet so cutting it a little bit fine, but looking forward to the learning!

I'm doing data science! It's building on my existing expertise in another subject to make me a specialist in a particular area of analytics, although it's my first foray into hardcore maths and coding.

It's 3 years, I'll finish in Jan 2025. Eeek. I find working with data totally absorbing though.

@policyschmolicy yay. Good luck Grin

Nice! I’m starting a senior leader apprenticeship/MBA programme and am also pretty excited.

Oh sweet, that sounds good. Which uni? My course also has quite a lot about leadership, which is why it's 3 years not 2. Mine is at Exeter, although delivered in London.

I’m going to Henley :)

Congrats, both. Each of them sound like exciting courses that will benefit your careers.

Just to give this some purpose: for anybody who's reading, if you work for a medium to large organisation in the UK and want to upskill, I would so encourage you to look into what apprenticeships are available. Most organisations can't spend their whole apprenticeship levy budget and are dying for someone to come to them wanting to do a value-adding apprenticeship. I found my own course and went to my company with a request to do it and they practically bit my hand off. There are apprenticeships available now in really diverse areas, and you can keep your existing job and wage while you do it if you pick something that supports your role.

Totally agree. I have a PhD already so had assumed I was ineligible. Turns out I’m not. It’s a really interesting route to a qualification; worth £14k to the training provider, comes from a tax rebate to the company, and training time comes from your working week.

Hi - found you whilst scrolling through mature students board.

How are you all getting on? I’m about to start Senior leaders apprenticeship MBA so I’d be interested to hear any tips, pitfalls to avoid etc

stalkersaga · 18/05/2022 11:33

I'm loving my course - the first module was a steep learning curve and I had to work hard to keep up, but I am benefiting so much from the stimulation and development.
