Retraining as a midwife

Hi is anyone doing this at the moment ? I’m considering it and would be 39 when I start with 3 primary aged children. I’m wondering what an average week looks like and what child care I might need , how do placement shifts work etc ? Any insights or tips gratefully received.

I was in uni 9-5 5 days a week but that has greatly changed now, our uni say they won't ever go back to that, they will continue with a mix of online and face to face going forward.

We had a rolling pattern of 6 weeks in uni, 6 weeks in placement. We had 7 weeks off over the whole year, including summer and Christmas etc.

Placements involved day/night 13 hour shifts, 3 a week. Community was 5 days a week 9-5 but with some weekends, which at times meant long runs of days in a row.

It really isn't easy but in my opinion, so so so worth it.

I managed it with small children, lots of people do.
